Y'know, that midget sub was sighted by a US amphibious aircraft, a PBY.

I've been in contact with Lou Conter—my sister has visited them at their previous home.

Lou, an "Enlisted Pilot", who had previously survived the USS Arizona attack, was my Dad's co-pilot.

They had to ditch the "Black Cat" PBY, due to fire on board. All aboard swam to a Japanese-controlled island, had native support, and were rescued by PT boat.

At his birthday party in September his doctor said she promised to keep him alive to 100, but has given him a five year extension. He said he’ll keep returning here as long as he is able and told the press he’s like to be here for the 80th, when he’ll be 100. You know what a kindly man he is.
