Senator Murray Statement on New Trump Administration SNAP Rule
U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) ^ | Dec 04 2019 | U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA)

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the statement below following final approval on a Trump Administration rule that will remove nearly 700,000 people from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

“It’s hard to see this as anything but the President being cruel for cruelty’s sake. There is absolutely no reason to deny struggling individuals the food assistance they need. President Trump may not understand how much damage steps like this cause—but I do and I’m not going to stop fighting to get this heartless rule and others like it reversed.”

I Agree,

Therefore I am Immediately Suspending the Food Stamp Program and dispersing the funds to Local Community Churches and Other Groups to Establish and Run SOUP KITCHENS on Every Corner in America that needs one.

Having witnessed purchases of food items I couldn’t afford by those on a government program I don’t know that I can criticize any attempt to get things under control. There are a lot of programs, some do more good than others.

Now that Boxer has retired, Patty has the distinction of being the dumbest member of the U.S. Senate, and that is a group that can boast some of the country’s dimmest bulbs.

Do it locally, you don’t need Washington to do it for you.

700K on SNAP is the tip of the iceberg. The lowest earning 20% of US households receives $45,389 in government transfers.

The new rule requires recipients who are not disabled and 18-49 years old to work 36 hours in 2 months.

I do that in just over 2 days.

Dear Patty,

There is nothing compassionate about undermining able bodied people to mooch off of PRODUCTIVE citizens, just so you get their vote.

Based on my understanding the only “change” is that able-bodied people who can work must work or go for training to get a job to receive food stamps. How dare Trump make people who can work work instead of them waiting at home all day leeching off productive members of society

I believe it only applies to able-bodied people under 50 with no children. Why shouldn’t they be required to work to receive food stamps?

Funny, Patty, the President strike me as a man who would be unnecessarily cruel. In fact, he’s just about had it with the taxpayers being treated so cruelly by the likes of you.

Now kindly, go get stuffed.

I’m sorry, was that being cruel for cruelty’s sake?
