Waukesha South High School is 'safe and secure' after a student was shot by an officer for pointing a gun at law enforcement, police say.
Authorities said that a student notified administrators after hearing that a student was in possession of a handgun at school.
"The school's Resource Officer immediately responded to the classroom, the SRO made efforts to secure the classroom by getting the other students to safety, said Chief Russell Jack.
Other officers responded to the classroom and began talking with the suspect in an attempt to deescalate the situation. The 17-year-old student would not remove his hands from his pocket and continued to ignore officer's commands, authorities said.
Eventually, police say the officer was forced to fire at the student when he would not remove his hands from his pocket.
"This is an isolated incident. We are not seeking anybody else we have no other persons of interest. We are in the investigative stage right now as the scene is stabilized," police said on Twitter.

I thought it odd a potential school shooting didn't really get much national coverage.
The video showed mostly white kids but the shooter appears to be black.
Is that why this story isn't making the rounds?
This article is confusing
“Waukesha South High School is ‘safe and secure’ after a student was shot by an officer for pointing a gun at law enforcement, police say.”
and then
“Other officers responded to the classroom and began talking with the suspect in an attempt to deescalate the situation. The 17-year-old student would not remove his hands from his pocket and continued to ignore officer’s commands, authorities said.
Eventually, police say the officer was forced to fire at the student when he would not remove his hands from his pocket.”
Which is it? Both can’t be true at the same time
Wrong demographics and good guy with a gun won.
The town is 2% black.
Seems like a weird incident.
Has ANYONE confirmed it was a gun in the kids pocket?
Someone may have some ‘splainin’ to do if it was a cell phone or if he was happy to see someone etc....
Of course, kid stupid for not showing hands....
My post was nothing to do about race
I was saying the “reporter” or Fake News story teller, wrote that the student pointed a gun at the officer
But states the student refused to remove his hands from his pocket and the officer shot him
Both can be true at the same time.
Bad reporting
That was the confusing part of the article, it doesn’t state if the student had a gun, but stated he refused to take his hands out of his pockets. It also states the student pointed a gun at the officer
Its just weird
Seems mutually exclusive to me, too.
Sure they can. And your children, or theirs, will agree or face the consequences.
Enemies of life and liberty are, eventually, not Dems, not the left and not socialists. The collapse of all civilization is the goal of post modernists.
1 + 1 = 2. 1 + 1 = cow. Either both at once or fluid. It depends on what demons from hell consider will burn the planet to a cinder.
Also says he was shot after allegedly bringing gun to school.
So maybe it’s just that he was allegedly shot.
If memory serves, another article (Fox News, IIRC) said that the criminal refused to show his hands for some time then pulled the weapon and pointed it at the cop.
And yes, the excerpted article above was poorly written.
Its just weird
= = = = = = = =
No, it is SOP....everyone in a rush to get the FIRST HEADLINE so the truth and facts take a beating.
The student “allegedly” brought the gun? Is anyone seriously claiming that he did not bring the gun?
