They haven't yet.
It would be illegal if you have fries with it and are dipping the fries in ketchup. /s
They just care so much about their people that they want to ensure their safety. If it saves just one life, it’s worth it? /s
Phones don't blow up when used in a running vehicle yet.
If they’re all about safety and not looting the pockets of people, why are they selling cars that far exceed their top speed limits?
In addition, since more people suffer head injuries driving cars than motorcycle due to the fact there are many more cars than motorcycles, why not pass laws requiring that drivers and passengers in cars wear helmets?
There is the “Big Brother” theme in this law but I agree with the law because driving while texting or talking is dangerous.
Draconian? Maybe but, if the one life it saves happens to be mine, I’m all for it!
I NEVER use my cell phone while driving. If my wife is with me, she handles all of the communications as well as Navigation. If alone, and the phone rings, I let it ring and hope for a message to be left or call them when I have stopped driving.
The red light is not a signal to start texting, either!
140 Trillion in debt and 1/4 quadrillion in derivatives will not pay themselves
Yeah, right after they've been sent to NSA who keeps them forever.
As if phones are any worse than putting on makeup, reading, eating or arguing with passengers or other drivers. A gal once zipped around us and I said she was going to wreck. Seconds later, she flipped the car. She was ok. Don't know if she learned a lesson.
I’d like to see it here. I’m tired of people driving over the center line while they play with their phones or navigation system or anything else but driving the car.
Self-gubment without self-discipline will not work.
The company I worked for mandated a defensive driving course for every employee that operated any of their vehicles (after one particularly bad year for driving accidents). I took the class. It wasn’t bad.
It was a nationally recognized course used by many corporations and government entities. It plainly pointed out that the same laws of physics applied, whether you were a first responder or not. It strongly advocated the same rules (basically avoiding cell phones and computer use while driving) for all commercial drivers.
Of course we know that there are two sets of rules...
A few years back a female driver passed me at speed on HWY 101 North, flossing her teeth....using the mirror with floss box jammed against the mirror bracket.
Accidents happen and so far people haven’t learned.
I’ve seen people driving with a book propped up on the steering wheel.
Of course, the women putting on make up routine.
How often I wished I had a semi-truck air horn to blast at them.
Son in law is from Australia. He still doesn’t get the American approach to the speed limit. In Australia, you go 2 kph over, you’re getting a ticket.
On th plus side, he’s never distracted on the phone when he’s driving my daughter.
On the news that night they reported that a 21 year old girl in a Volkswagen heading northbound on that highway had swerved over two lanes and smashed head on with a south bound pick up truck. That accident occurred at approx. 6:45 a.m. when the traffic is relatively light going northbound. While it wasn't stated, I have to believe that she too was distracted by her phone.........
We see it all the time, we're driving along when we come up on a vehicle doing 5 MPH under the speed limit and when we pass them we see they're trying to look at their text messages........
I would much rather see laws prohibiting drivers from using the phones when driving (along with holding their stupid little dogs in their laps) and law enforcement strictly enforcing them and issuing stiff fines when caught.
The “Driver” is the person in the right front seat. Fairly simple to make that distinction ...
Will this mean the police will actually use their turn signals and also not blow thru red lights. You know follow the law?
A coworker once bragged about his new pickup truck. I asked him if the blinkers worked. He was puzzled at my question. I responded that I asked because I'd never seen a pickup truck drive use the blinkers.
DISTRACTED LAWS ARE UNSAFE
Distracted Laws are unsafe and kill children.
Semi truck trailers must now stop on the road, driving blind.
They must uturn unsafely in close quarters.
They must drive blind risking pedestrian death.
DISTRACTED LAWS KILL
