Horowitz was never going to produce anything but whitewash. It is his specialty.

I expect a luke warm report. Tough talk, but a weak conclusion.

Probably like Rep Hurd R Texas yesterday tough talk against Trump, but the bottom line was different. - Tom

“An impeachable offense should be compelling,” Hurd said during Thursday’s impeachment hearing before the House Intelligence Committee. “It’s not something to be rushed or taken lightly. I have not heard evidence proving the president committed bribery or extortion.”

Our gov’t has become absolutely incapable of policing itself.

I did not want impeached. Now I kind of do. The best thing we may ever get out of this entire process is to have a trial in the Senate that exposes the entire coup through open witness testimony and reading various documents into the public record.

I really don't understand why a lot of you keep saying things like that. Trump will not have control of the trial in the senate, mcconnel has all the power. He will sit down with the minority leader and determine the rules, time frame, the boundaries of what Trump can submit into evidence or investigate and will have final say on witnesses. mcconnel is not going to let Trump rehash the russia investigation, nor is he going to let Trump investigate anything he wants. I'll be surprised if mcconnel allows Trump to call schiff, bidden or the whistle blower. In fact, my bet is that mcconnel will make Trump make his chief of staff and Bolton available to be whiteness.

Mitch will allow Schumer to run the trial. Mitch will screw Trump in a New York minute.

If Horowitz fails to defend the Constitutional rights of American citizens against government abuses then we need to drain even more of the swamp to keep this country. It will never be over.

*************

Big government leads to big abuses because of the ever expanding opportunities for graft and corruption. Anyone who has ever worked in the massive Swamp knows that the pursuit of power, influence and money is a permanent condition. It will never be over.

If you want to reduce the severity of wildfires you have to thin the forests. Likewise, the only way to reduce corruption is to severely cut down the size of government.

Republicans always talk about doing this but they never do.

Horowitz looked at this for over a year. Barr came onboard and right away said something didn’t pass the smell test. Just recently, in a speech, Barr was very critical of the Deep State. I don’t think Barr will let the higher-ups skate through this unscathed.

I think everyone here needs to just take a deep breath and wait until the report comes out.

The Times is playing to the left to try and set the narrative to soften the blow. If they keep painting the low-level FBI agent as the bad guy, anyone else above looks like political retribution.

They started that narrative against Barr quite awhile ago.

Frankly, I don’t think anyone other than Barr and Horowitz know exactly what is in the report. The DOJ IG’s office has done a very good job of not leaking any report content.

Why would someone start to leak now?

If all the shit falls on some low level schlaub and the top level guys skate, it will be time to get the torches and pitchforks out.

“. . . mcconnel has all the power. He will sit down with the minority leader and determine the rules, time frame, the boundaries of what Trump can submit into evidence or investigate and will have final say on witnesses.”

When the McConnell led Senate sets the rules and chooses a secret ballot we will know immediately the fix is in and Trump will be removed as President. A secret ballot will mean there are 20 or more Republicans who will vote to convict. The secret ballot will give individual Senators the “freedom” to vote their consciences.

This game has the highest stakes. Every Senator who is compromised already knows he/she will be exposed if they do not toe the line. All are being reminded of Dennis Hastert’s fate - he was Speaker of the House and did the bidding of the lobbyists (king of earmarks) yet he fell from grace and his sins were exposed.

How many GOP Senators are not corrupt or compromised? How many truly revere the Constitution? How many are patriots and willing to risk death before violating the oath to protect and defend the Constitution? Remember, most of the current GOP Senators lauded John McCain as a great patriot. McCain — the man who told his constituents he would vote to repeal Obamacare, but then proudly and great public fanfare voted with the Dems to preserve it. McCain the man who did the bidding of Charles Keating in the early 1990’s. McCain, the man who casually and happily sent young American servicemen to the Middle East to die for no purpose. McCain, the man who did the bidding of the mainstream press and Democrats so he could play “statesman” on the Sunday morning talk shows.

Abraham asked God if he would save Sodom and Gomorrah if only 10 righteous people could be found. Ask the same about Washington, DC and the Republicans in the Senate? Are there 10 uncorrupted Republicans in the Senate? If I were Trump, I wouldn’t feel good about my chances in the McConnell led Senate.

Consider the timing of Epstein’s recent demise. A number of GOP Senators are reading the tea leaves and making their choices. They knowl, even if the angry voters kick you out, if you toe the line there are lucrative corporate board assignments, consulting gigs, and TV news show appearances to look forward to. Life goes on and it will be better to loose a Senate seat than being 6 feet under.

The Horowitz report was supposed to be out months ago yet for some reason it was delayed. There has to be a reason it is coming out in the middle of impeachment. If it can be spun by the press to debunk conservative “conspiracy theories” the reason for the timing is very clear.

My thought is the IG report is coming out now because it’s the only ammo POTUS has to fight the coup. Barr could easily delay it again if it was a negative for Trump. The GOP controlled Senate steadfastly refuses to use its constitutional powers and support him on the coup. The facts in the IG report are his only defense. Obviously, he can’t count on McConnell in a Senate trial to do anything but look out for himself and other Senators.

This concerns a FISA renewal. What about the lies and misrepresentations told by Comey to obtain the initial FISA authorization?

“The Times is playing to the left to try and set the narrative to soften the blow.”

Especially knowing The Impeachment Show was a flop, widely panned by critics.

I have already gotten to that point.

I will ‘lose faith’ in the TOP for not cleaning house.
These people have been ‘toying’ with us for 3 years and all we get is the back stabbers on the tube everyday, laughing at all of us.

Not to mention the money that was/is being blown on stupid investigations that dig the hole deeper for the accusers but they keep plugging on.
