Actuall, environmental stewardship is the second job we got in the Garden: (Genesis 2:15) - "The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it."

That was after the first one: (Genesis 1:28) - "Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it."

So we are tenants on his earth, and are expected to take charge, cultivate it, develop it, and keep it in good order.

Notice that doesn't say anything about reducing your carbon fooprint.

This pope actually has some lovely ideas about respecting God's creation: but most of his shtick is strictly global carbon cult stuff straight from the UN and the GSD crowd. He's a willing and knowing tool for very, very dangerous global governance strategies.
