History Is Clear: Socialism Isn't the Cure. So Why Do Millennials Like It?

Multiple forms of socialism, from hard Stalinism to European redistribution, continue to fail.

Russia and China are still struggling with the legacy of genocidal communism. Eastern Europe still suffers after decades of Soviet-imposed socialist chaos.

Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea and Venezuela are unfree, poor and failed states. Baathism -- a synonym for pan-Arabic socialism -- ruined the postwar Middle East.

Correct many millennials need someone else to tell them exactly what to do and that they are great. There is a whole generation of people that only got A’s in school when they finally got a B it was the end of their world. Parents of millennials know exactly what I’m talking about.

Because they’re ignorant of history! These Leftist educators will not tell them about the death that follows totalitarianism!

Indoctrination and parents who did next to nothing to counter the propaganda.

“Indoctrination”

Yes, in earnest since the late 1940’s.

Social Marxists (leftists, progressives) have been influencing us and especially our schools since the late 1940’s (search up Frankfurt School).

John Dewey (of Dewey decimal system fame) was working it into education in the 1910’s, as Pres. Wilson pushed it into government (19A gave it a great boost). They have not called themselves communist since Sen. Joe McCarthy spotlighted them in the 1950’s.

Their influence has led to progressive taxation, massive gov welfare & entitlement programs, Godless schools, political correctness, LGBTQ+ ‘rights’, consensus-building, sage spaces and today’s youts thinking socialism is great (the ultimate goal).

They believe that somehow there is that perfect manager who knows exactly how to allocate resources for the good of all.

Yes.

And related to this, because we are a rich society and no one is in serious danger of starving, people have this notion that there are (in effect) enormous piles of "stuff" that the Rich have hoarded. If only those mean Rich people who give up their "stuff" and if some perfect manager were to allocate the stuff, then EVERYONE could be a millionaire. The only thing stopping this are the mean old greedy Republican Rich Guys.

Dependency is the foundation of “Progressivism”… to “succeed” the population must be in poverty and near hopelessness… where they see dependence on Nanny government as the only “solution” to their misery. #RustyIrony is Nanny government is the CAUSE!!!

“Progressives” think we are little more than their property... human livestock to be manipulated, corralled, controlled... and even culled if they so determine. “Progressive” politics has been described as progressive only in the sense of a disease... like cancer, ALS, Alzheimer’s or diabetes. It progressively weakens and wrecks the body until death results. “Progressives” do the same thing to a society... all the while proclaiming themselves “morally” and “intellectually” superior to we mere “Deplorable peasants”. #Romans 1:22.

Look no further than California... or any other decades long run Democrat fiefdom! Not only are they economic disasters, they are environmental disasters... brought to us by those who would “save” the earth by sacrificing us.

#OldSerpentSmiles!

History is a key component in understanding the present and future.

Most of the young twits believe that socialism is in direct opposition to “fascism”.

The have no clue that fascism, communism, and Nazism were and are all socialist movements. The base tenants of all three have common beliefs and roots. The differences all revolved around how “true” socialism should be implemented.

Enter the cults of personality that successfully manipulated the masses in one direction or the other and the three turned on each other and moved toward totalitarianism to be the controlling faction.

History shows that none succeed to any degree without the ignorance of the masses. The saying that “the masses are asses” has been proven true in the past and is starting to show a revival in the present. Uneducated ignorance is the leavening agent of the tyranny of socialism.

Because they (so many of them) have been indoctrinated with it from childhood, by parents, teachers and peers who truly believe that it can work despite all the evidence to the contrary.

It is not just the school teachers. It is the fact that their parents have not made them do any work around their home.

They have people that mow the lawn. Paint the house. Trim the bushes. Pick up the leaves in the fall. Plow the driveway.

Their kids have never learned if they want something they have to WORK for it. They have to earn it.

Some of these people are pushing 40 and show no signs of figuring it out yet.

And then there are the Bernies...

Because they Left redefined socialism in schools to mean be socially aware and conscience of the world around them.

I’ve been watching the new Amazon season of Jack Ryan where the socialist candidate is portrayed as righteous and the people worship her. But they have a telling scene where her and her friends are sitting around the table talking about the power of the state to control the freedom of people is the ultimate power.

You are right. Fascism & Nazism have been made out to be on the “right” side politically when the opposite is true. They are products of “left” thinking.

You make an excellent point. Some of the most formative experiences in my life came from jobs I held as a kid.

Started out working for a nonprofit for $2.00 an hour (far below then-minimum because nonprofits were exempt). Got a review after three months and a raise to $2.50 which I was damned glad to have.

Left that to take a job in a grocery store for $3.35, the then-minimum wage. It was a union gig. The union grabbed forty bucks a pay out of my not overly-generous paycheck. And they constantly went to bat to win back the jobs of lazy, insolent employees who had damned well deserved to get fired.

Left that to work for a friend who started a landscaping company. He paid me $6.00 per hour. Learned a whole lot about the realities of running a small business from working with him. I was horrified to learn that he had to dip into his own pocket to pay the matching on my Social Security. His wife had just had a baby and I saw that money coming out of their child’s mouth.

Spoiled, affluent kiddies who get all the way through college having never held an actual job learned NONE of these things.

Steven Crowder explained it best in his five-word response to a legal immigrant from Venezuela who asked why people who live in the greatest country in the world want socialism. Crowder’s response: “Because they’ve never lived it.”

They don't .... they've been fed a line of boojit since kindergarten that is nothing more than rejection of representative Republicanism.

NOTHING was ever INSTILLED within them, except the subtle but definitive conditioning of socialist thought processes.

1) It TAKES away from the classes of people they’ve been taught to HATE.

2) They get some free stuff.

3) And, IT TEARS IT ALL DOWN!

I think they just don't have a lot of hope for the future. When a one-bedroom apartment is over $2,000 a month, and they're lucky to get a job at Starbucks for $400 a week, they have no hope of moving out of their parents' homes, and certainly no hope of ever getting married, buying a house, and starting a family, like past generations. I have lots of friends with kids in their 20s and 30s. The kids are all living at home and can't begin to afford to live on their own, even if they're working full time at decent jobs. When I was 18 I had an entry-level job and easily got my own little apartment, a reliable car, and even had a bit of spending money left over. Those days are over.

So the idea of getting "free stuff," free medical, etc., and somebody taking care of them is probably appealing to today's young people. It's a different world.
