Pelosi: No House vote on impeachment inquiry [Developing]
The Hill ^ | October 15, 2019 | Scott Wong, Mike Lillis

Speaker Nancy Pelosi continued to stand firm Tuesday, insisting she will not stage a vote on the House floor to officially launch an impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

Trump and his Republican allies have been pressuring Pelosi to hold a formal vote to begin the investigation — a move they believe would grant them more power and influence in the process, including the ability to call and subpoena their own witnesses.

Last month, Pelosi formally launched an impeachment inquiry into Trump after months of resisting calls from her caucus to do so, but she has faced pressure to hold an on-the-record vote from both Democrats seeking Trump's ouster and Republicans who view the issue as a political winner.

The impeachment inquiry followed Trump's admission that he pressured Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, as well as a whistleblower's complaint that alleges Trump sought the probe in order to help his own chances ahead of the 2020 election.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the investigation as a "witch hunt," while House Democrats have held a series of behind-closed-doors hearings in recent weeks with administration officials involved in Ukraine policy, including former Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch on Friday, former Trump Russia adviser Fiona Hill on Monday and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent on Tuesday.

Pelosi's announcement came less than two hours before the Democratic 2020 primary field is set to hold its first debate since the impeachment inquiry began.

She would hold the vote if she was confident it would pass.

She’s not, and just watch while Potus Trump points this exact thing out to the world in an upcoming tweet.

“Trump’s admission that he pressured Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter”

These two Hill hacks allege, without evidence, that Trump “admitted” he pressured Ukraine.

More lies, distortions, and fake news.

Can't some Republican call for a vote, and wouldn't it then have to be tabled or otherwise dispatched? A voice vote would occur on the motion to table and then a roll call vote could be demanded.

What am I missing?

Maybe the Louisiana election results helped them understand, that we are not amused and are playing for keeps.

She is still trying to protect the moderates and I think, the Rats think they have enough evidence in the transcript. In their minds, all the Rats need is a little more committee work, do the vote to impeach and call it a day. The Rats would be much better off doing a formal censure than this nonsense (Note: I do not think Trump did anything wrong).

The lying Hill doesn’t mention that she needs the vote to have enforceable subpoenas LOL!

The media is too busy pretending “requests” are subpoenas so they can all shout “coverup!”

Demon-rats have perfected the art of “lawfare,” and this is exactly what is going on.

They will throw a lot more unfounded, fake stuff at the wall to see what sticks, forcing the accused to spend time, resources and energy on a defense, not to mention possibly being demoralized by the process.

And lawfare requires a long, drawn out process to starve the accused before the battle is even fought.

They do this because there is nothing to lose, they pay no consequence. That needs to change.

If they put the impeachment vote to the entire house, and if it passed and went to the Senate, the Senate would acquit QUICKLY long before November 2020. Pelosi wants to drag this out for another 13 months.

So Nancy was lying when she said:

NPR Sept. 24, 2019 -- "Therefore, today, I am announcing the House of Representatives moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I am directing our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella of impeachment inquiry."

Does this mean that the commie democrat party congress persons will now do the job that they were elected to do, like the business of their voters? The public has every reason to expect all govt workers to do their jobs, from custodial to the President. Every employee of the US govt receives their paycheck from the US Treasury, TAXPAYERS, not from a political party. The commie democrat party is thieving taxpayer funds to take out the President of the US and neglecting their duty to serve the voters they represent. All involved in this treasonous use of govt institutions should be put on suspension from their job and pay withheld till they prove their innocence. As is now the norm for Republicans who are considered guilty until the can prove innocence.
