Felicity Huffman reports to prison for her role in college admissions scandal

Felicity Huffman reported to a California federal correctional institution Tuesday to serve time for her part in the college admissions scandal.

**SNIP**

Huffman, 56, pleaded guilty in May and accepted responsibility for her part in the high-profile college admissions scandal that demonstrated the lengths wealthy parents will go in order to secure their kids a spot at the college of their choice.

The "Desperate Housewives" star pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud earlier this year. She confessed to paying an admissions consultant $15,000 to have a proctor correct her older daughter's answers on the SAT. She considered the same for her younger daughter but decided against it.

In addition to serving 14 days in prison, Huffman also received one year of probation, was ordered to perform 250 hours of community service and pay a $30,000 fine.

Several years ago in Florida a black woman was sentenced to prison because her son kept skipping school. (The school doesn’t get paid for any days skipped so it’s a revenue item.) She was murdered her first night there.

Big deal, a 2 week vacation at the Dublin Holiday Inn, some random appearances telling the beautiful people how bad she was to do these things, and a few thousand dollars in fines.

If they really wanted to make this one hurt for these parents, let them pay the tuition, room, board and fees for 2 other students at USC or wherever their little darlings were accepted on a phony basis.

“Meanwhile, Hillary walks free as a bird.”

My first thought as well. Hillary’s rise to being untouchable started when she got into Wellesley. Then it advanced after getting into Yale Law School (almost certainly because she had been at Wellesley - and had been an activist). After that she failed the DC bar exam, worked for a law firm in Little Rock that got investigated (Rose Law firm), and then rode the coattails of her husband to a political career. What a feminist.

At least nine college coaches or athletic department officials were arrested and lost their jobs or were placed on leave. Five of those pled guilty.

Probably by someone who couldn’t sleep because of all her bitching and moaning.

There was a reason her kid skipped school, and was a pain in the ass, and it almost certainly was inherited.

Talk about the high cost of education.

It would be really funny if it weren’t so sad.

I doubt anyone in the education bureaucracy cared at all.

Here is my question. She paid $15,000 to get her daughter’s answers on the SAT altered. Has anybody done anything to the crook who altered the answers?

As far as I can tell with the limited amount of TV I want no one has done a damn thing to all the other people involved in this sleazy s***.

While I think that she’s gotten off excessively lightly, I think that the people involved who did the Dirty Work appear to be walking away scot-free and should not

I agree. There is absolutely no reason to jail these wealthy parents. They have been publicly shamed, made fun of for spending huge sums just so their child can enter a certain college, and suffered financial loss as well. The stigma that will follow their children will cause additional problems in the future. Simply fine them and save the taxpayers from giving them room and board.

I would be interested in follow-ups on these individuals to find out whether they were convicted and sentenced in any way. I don’t know how you get that information cuz it Doesn’t seem to Warrant coverage.

Errors in punctuation and capitalization are due to the voice recognition. Because I’m not typing this stuff out on a portable device.

So she deserved to be murdered? Is that you Ebenezer? A little early for you to be out and about isn’t it?

I didn’t say she deserved to be murdered.

I explained why I thought it happened, and I bet I’m not far off.

Reading comprehension is difficult for some.

I only know her because she played a recurring character on Frasier which was (still is) a well-written, entertaining TV show.

“Proctor”, hah! Back when Ted Kennedy was cheating on his Harvard Admissions test they called them “Test-takers”. Proctors were the people who administered the test and they worked for the school.

I wouldn’t worry about Felicity and her husband. They are wired into the LA entertainment scene. They’ll be half-@ssed heros within a year of her release.

I have a problem with the hypocrisy behind all of this.

Affirmative action is exercised at colleges and schools nationwide resulting in people who are qualified being rejected over people who are less qualified or not qualified.

The actions of these selfish people robbed some people of opportunity, but the colleges rob people of opportunity and do it on a daily basis with the imprimatur of the government.

Not sticking up for these jerks, but...really...sending them to jail? I would think a fine would have been more appropriate.

The entire education system simply stinks.

Yes. Again, not sticking up for these twerps, but with what has been going on with this travesty of justice in the framing of President Trump, Gen. Flynn and Papadopoulos, the actual violation of their constitutional rights and worse, and they send this stupid woman to jail even for a day?

It makes me burn with anger.
