America's job market may be the strongest it's been in at least half a century, but not all workers are getting a lift. The proportion of men in their prime working years without a job is higher today than it was before the Great Recession, according to a new study.
Roughly 1 in 7 U.S. men between the ages of 25 and 54 aren't employed, federal labor data show. That's a higher rate of unemployment for the group than in 2007, the year before the housing crash slammed the economy.

LOL, only in a world where they were trying to talk down the economy would they abandon their race and gender based doom and gloom talking points to talk about how bad some men have it...
“I think there are two ways of looking at this
1) There are a bunch of lazy, shiftless guys out there who arent trying hard enough to find jobs.
2) Our culture (government and media) have really messed with us. Women and other special interest groups get lots of privileges but the average Man out there gets shafted. A lot of men have given up because they perceive the deck is stacked against them.”
Both are correct.
Really? I am 58. The project I was working on ended. Ive been looking since January. I could work as an overnight representative in a call center or help desk. Supervisory? Management.? Or Executive?
Nope.
Spotless work record. Except I took two years off to be a caretaker and executor for my dying mother. I guess in those two years I forgot everything I knew.
Lord knows...I might have to take time to care for my wife or something.
I guess I will go learn how to code.
The article links the study but the study doesnt really support the article. For one th article is about a world wide decline in the job prospects of men. The article makes it sound like its about the US. For another thing the article two about Trump etc. I dont see any mention of Trump in the linked study.
The study comes from the left leaning Brookings Institute:

Disgusting!
There are too many men that dont want to work.
This combination made me laugh!
...at a clinic
“1 in 7 men between 25 and 54 are unemployed? That, I believe is CBS Fake News...total BS.”
The unemployment rate for males age 25 to 54 is 3.0%:

The article says that 1 in 7 males age 25 to 54 are “not employed”. That’s different from “unemployed.” The difference stems from the fact that many men in that age group are not actively seeking employment; for example, the younger ones may be in school and the older ones may be retired.
Whoa there, Nelly.
May I suggest you take a step back, a deep breath and contemplate a moment. Everything is not is it may seem from your point of view. Then again, psrhaps this is just another BS story from the MSM to gin up discontent.
So, again, step back and take a deep breath before you disparage unemployed men.
I don’t believe in going into the inner city and promising something not given to any other group.
Trump didn’t do that. He promised to raise the standard of living for all groups including minorities.
That is the right way to help minorities.
There’s nothing at all wrong with doing that. It was a promise that went across racial lines.
Your snarky focus on this misses the finer points mentioned here.
I was let go from a long term contract position last year and had to throw my had into the job market again after over 20 years of steady work post USAF. Signed up to a number of on-line sites, got picked up in a good position. I am now inundated with job listings in my e-mail daily. Incredible how many jobs are out there.
Now tell me how many of them are collecting $$$$$ in some form or another....welfare, mom & dad, wife, under the table etc etc
ROFLMAO!!!!!
I PROVED MY POINT!!
I’m glad to hear your story. Good point. Makes you wonder where they are finding these men who can’t find work.
There are stories like yours out there. There seems to be more jobs than bodies these days.
Can’t say that’s true in every sector.
yep

What this article is about is the labor participation rate for 25-54 males.
Kick soyboy out of the basement and tell him to find a job!
These are the deadbeats who don’t want a job.
Anybody who wants a job, CAN get a job in this economy.
As I keep saying, the unemployable rate is above 50%. A whole lot of people are currently employed that don’t really deserve to be.
All the men around here, that don’t have any abilities and read/write at a 7th grade level, are on disability and there’s a LOT of them.
