White House adviser Stephen Miller declared President Donald Trump to be the real whistleblower Sunday in the ongoing Ukraine controversy, declaring voters had a choice between "democracy" and the "deep state."
"Do you want a democracy in this country or do you want a deep state?" Miller asked on Fox News Sunday. "It's a binary choice for the American people."
Miller said the whistleblower complaint released this week exhibited clear political bias. He praised Trump for "trying to expose corruption" in his phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky in July.
"It's the president's job and sworn duty to safeguard taxpayer dollars and the United States government's foreign policy," Miller said. "If you want to understand why that complainant is so obviously politically biased when he says, or she, that the president is hurting national security by trying to get to the bottom of a gigantic scandal that nobody has unearthedthe president is the whistleblower here. The president of the United States is the whistleblower, and this individual is a saboteur trying to undermine a democratically elected government."
"Saboteuris he a spy?" host Chris Wallace asked. "Is he committing treason? The president said that, you know."
"The president correctly pointed out that the behavior of this individual is close to a spy," Miller replied. "I don't know who the individual is. All I know is at some point, Chris, we have to focus on the real scandal, which is three years of deep state sabotage."
Miller and Wallace clashed repeatedly during the lengthy interview, with Wallace at one point accusing Miller of engaging in an "exercise in obfuscation."
House Democrats opened an impeachment inquiry this week following the release of a reconstructed phone conversation between Trump and Zelensky. Trump asked Zelensky to "look into" Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, over the latter's high-paid role at Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company.
Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani has accused the elder Biden of pushing for the firing of top Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin because he was investigating Burisma. The Bidens have denied any wrongdoing, and officials said the probe into Burisma was dormant when Shokin was pushed out in 2016.
Democrats allege Trump used military aid as leverage to pressure Zelensky into boosting his political fortunes, as Joe Biden is a leading Democratic candidate to face him in 2020. Trump said the call was appropriate and Zelensky told reporters he felt no pressure in the conversation. Trump has also accused the whistleblower of being partisan.
The whistleblower, whose identity is unknown, wrote in the complaint released by Congress that Trump had used "the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election." The whistleblower did not hear the conversation firsthand. According to the complaint, he learned about the call from U.S. officials who listened to it. He also claimed U.S. officials intervened to "lock down" records of the call afterward.
"This individual is a saboteur."
I caught Fox news Sunday on the radio and the way that little weasel Wallace carried on just verified my longtime disgust of the little creep. I never liked that puke from day one.
And here, we have a beautiful example of how the media subtly alters facts to alter perception. The House DemocRATs rushed to announce an impeachment inquiry as soon as news that there was a whistleblower complaint hit. There were absolutely no details at the time. So the claim that House DemocRATs did this on the basis of any substantive evidence is false.
Given details that have trickled out after the fact, it looks like the "whistleblower complaint" was fabricated for exactly the purpose of harassing the President. I think there is another purpose, which is to undermine the President's ability to negotiate with foreign leaders as is his Constitutional duty.
Wallace is as slimy as his father, Mike Wallace.
Toward the end of the interview, Wallace said he would give Miller one full minute to explain his point without interruption. I clocked it; he got twenty-five seconds. Weasel Wallace could not restrain himself.
I don’t want a democracy.

Great points. This is exactly why it is critical for the GOP Senate to hold hearings on this before the Dems and media allies set the narrative.
Instead, seemingly the GOP senate plan is to sit back and allow the House Dems a free hand to impeach POTUS. I have never been more disgusted with the GOP in my life and that is saying something.
Donald Trump is going to be in a very strong position for the 2020 campaign. A big reason for this is that even rabidly partisan Democrats know that hes the only elected official in Washington who has accomplished anything of substance since Election Day in 2016. Having a bunch of inept, feckless @ssholes conducting stupid hearings that accomplish nothing will completely undermine the GOP Senate.
This is one of those times when its best for the GOP to sit quietly and do very little.
President Trump was elected by a bunch of Deplorables who dont give a flaming sh!t about hearings.
Weasel wallace! Exactly
Actually, holding hearings in the Senate over this nonsense would be completely counter-productive. Nothing is going to come out of them that we dont already know.
We don’t really know anything at this point about this incident. This is a massive conspiracy apparently involving the perp, outside lawyers who actually wrote the whistleblower document, the IC IG and House Dems. And of course Biden Jr. looking a fool and taking the 5th would validate Trump’s concerns.
Look how fast public perception turned on Mueller once he crashed like the Hindenburg in front of Congress. The same would happen here.
Absolutely. We are a constitutional republic.
The Democrats have spent more than three years overplaying their hand with Trump. If Im a GOP Senator, I would much rather debunk and attack and then ridicule this Democrat operation than hold a hearing that gives it any legitimacy at all.
Holding a hearing at this point is like filing a motion in a criminal case before youve even seen the charges.
We don’t have the facts. We’re never going to get them from the House Dems, Deep State and/or media.
Doing nothing gives the Dems a free hand to impeach POTUS and set up a circus in the Senate. Much better to nip this in the bud now than to have the beltway consumed for the rest of Trump’s first term by impeachment.
Biden taking the 5th in the Senate ends this all now. That would make it impossible for the House to impeach on this issue and they are running out of time to cook something else up. It’s that simple.
They didn't seem to have any objections against it in 2016!
Let em change the rules and regs! They did far worse and will dangle dance on their own petards.
Since when was it acceptable to extort with US tax monies just because you're running for president?
Way too many DC "Rep bulcicans" are saboteurs who follow Mitt Romney's lead. I have no confidence that they'll vote to save the nation. If they win the next election, a lot of the crazy things those Dems running for the nomination propose will happen quickly.
JMHO
False choices - Democracy vs. Deep State.
It is obvious, now, that if Democracy does not produce a strong state which acts for the people, a weak state (which is what we have) can be overmastered by seditionists and enemies of the people.
Libertarians (and I was one, once) have deconstructed the popular strong state only to see it replaced by a permanent government hostile to our interests.
Donald Trump is a remarkable man, with excellent instincts. But he has failed to constitute a strong government, and this is why we are losing.
Oh please. Wake the hell up.
Oh please. Wake the hell up.
I am totally awake. Apparently, you are not. The President is about be impeached in the House due to a Deep State coup. And the GOP Senate is just fine that.
I disagree. WE THE PEOPLE failed to constitute a strong government.
This reminds me of a civil court case I was involved with some years ago. The defendant had some very relevant, critical facts on his side. Rather than bring those facts out into the open early on, the defense team waited until the plaintiffs had filed their paperwork and completed their depositions. Releasing the defense material LATER helped the defense win a major judgement from his counter-claim ... because it was obvious that the plaintiff was lying.
