McCarthy slams Pelosi impeachment announcement: 'The election is over'

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) hammered Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after she announced House Democrats would launch an official impeachment inquiry into President Trump, suggesting she is seeking to reverse the results of the 2016 election.

“Speaker Pelosi happens to be the Speaker of this House, but she does not speak for America when it comes to this issue. She cannot decide unilaterally what happens here,” he told reporters.

“The election is over. I realize 2016 did not turn out the way Speaker Pelosi wanted it to happen, but she cannot change the laws of this Congress,” he added. “It's time to put the public before politics.”

Pelosi’s announcement Tuesday came amid a series of new calls for Trump’s impeachment over allegations that he sought to tie military aid to Ukraine in exchange for Kiev opening an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden, his chief political rival, and his son Hunter Biden.

“Our republic endures because of the wisdom of our Constitution enshrined in three coequal branches that act as checks and balances,” Pelosi said. “The president must be held accountable. No one is above the law.”

Trump has acknowledged that he mentioned Joe Biden in his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July and that he cut off aid to Ukraine days before the call. However, he has maintained no quid pro quo was discussed during their conversation.

Republicans have long accused Joe Biden of misconduct during his time as vice president when he lobbied for Kiev to dismiss prosecutor who was investigating a natural gas company owned by a Ukrainian oligarch, whose board members included Hunter Biden. No evidence has emerged that Joe Biden was acting to protect his son.

Republicans in the Senate have vowed to quash Democrats’ efforts, warning that Democrats are overplaying their hand and risk a political backlash.

“My response to them is go hard or go home,” said Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. “If you want to impeach him, stop talking. Do it. Do it. Go to Amazon, buy a spine and do it. And let’s get after it.”

“I think the public will feel like it’s more harassment,” he added.

Well, Epstein might have had some. But that's been taken care of.

This woman is such an idiot. What has PDJT done that would even in the least imply that he should be impeached?

I mean, I know they HATE him, but I’m pretty sure that’s not grounds for impeachment.

High Crimes and Misdemeanors. SHOW THEM TO US, Nancy, or STFU!

“No evidence has emerged that Joe Biden was acting to protect his son.”

I love these kinds of statements. What form does one suppose such evidence would take?

A purchase order? A signed agreement? Is the supposition that Biden ordered the prosecutor fired to benefit his son more compelling than the supposition that Trump worked to torpedo Biden as a candidate?

No evidence has emerged that Joe Biden was acting to protect his son.

If not his son, what other criminal was Joe trying to protect?

Amen, well said!

The only impeachable offences President Trump has committed are in the eyes of demented radical Democrats in the House.

Even Dems in the Senate are are sending signals that there’s no way he’ll be found guilty.

Let those radical Rats bring it on if they have the guts to do it which they don’t.

Really?

How about Rudy’s disclosures paraphrased below with Maria Bartiromo yesterday?

Let me add that the fired Ukrainian prosecutor was tracing where the money went.

This is from Giuliani:

POINT 1:
The Hunter Biden money went from Ukraine to Latvia to Cyprus to the US.

As Rudy points out, this is not a legitimate way to get paid for services. I’ll add this is in-your-face money laundering.

POINT 2:
The Ukrainian prosecutor traced the money to an account in Cyprus and made a demand on the government in Cyprus to return the stolen money to the Ukraine.

The government in Cyprus was called by ... now get this ...

THE GOVERNMENT OF CYPRUS WAS TOLD TO REFUSE RETURN OF THE BIDEN MONEY BY OBAMA’S AMBASSADOR TO CYPRUS.

This is the fight people. This theft of money from Ukraine implicates all of the players from the Clinton Foundation to Obama.

And Rudy said yesterday that he would present conclusive proof today.

CONCLUSIVE PROOF <== Special meaning to prosecutors of which Rudy is a former NYC prosecutor who took down the Mob.

Speaker Pelosi Bamboozles Base by Announcing Enhanced Continuation of Status Quo….

Posted on  by

Today Nancy Pelosi made an announcement with forethought, optical planning, teleprompter script, and a presentation intended to look serious.  But what she announced was simply a continuation of the status quo wrapped up in newly packaged lingo.

Pelosi stated she was herewith announcing an “official impeachment inquiry“. Everything remains ‘as is’, albeit with enhanced optics and new titles for the narrative engineers.

The Democrat stage managers forgot the trumpets…

Essentially she announced House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler will continue doing what House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler was already doing; only now House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, will start doing what he was doing with a new lingo.

There is not one thing different from today than yesterday, except the optics and new language to help the media hype something that doesn’t exist.   Speaker Pelosi did not announce her intent to hold a house vote to authorize an impeachment investigation; she didn’t even mention the word vote at all.   In essence what Speaker Pelosi has done is just satiate her base of Democrats with the fancy optics of something that doesn’t exist.

What’s the difference from Nadler’s “impeachment inquiry” yesterday, and Pelosi’s “official impeachment inquiry” today?…  Nothing.

The constitution provides for the formal process to initiate articles of impeachment for a sitting president.  The constitutional process begins with a vote in the House of Representatives to launch an impeachment investigation by House Committees.  However, Pelosi doesn’t want to hold a vote to start the process…. so she’s just modifying the language of the status quo and instead of the House voting to authorize an “impeachment investigation”, Pelosi announces an arbitrary “impeachment inquiry” by fiat.

It’s silly.

It’s the goofiest thing in modern politics.

It would be laughable if a sizable portion of the country, driven mostly by insufferable media presentations, didn’t actually believe something new just happened.

Feel free to modify the popcorn to “official popcorn”.

“Gotta love Senator Kennedy.”

I don’t know about his voting record but he is definitely the most entertaining Senator (and I mean that in a good way).

Election is just around the corner. By this time last election cycle Trump had already pointed out the blood coming out of Megyn Kelly’s eyes.

Typical GOPe McCarthy to be looking backwards.

I loved the look on Rep. Scalise’s face as he was standing beside Rep. McCarthy. Nice smile.

From the headline, I thought McCarthy was referring to the 2020 election as being over, for the Dims.

He’s talking about 2016.

I say 2020 is over for them, if they push this BS.

Keep at it, Nan. You’re doing great!

Note how aggressive the Democrats are in setting the narratative. Contrast that with seemingly disinterest from the GOP Senate to treat Biden Jr. as POTUS and his family has been.

McCarthy is flapping his gums. Only the GOP Senate matters here. And there is no way McConnell and Burr will promptly target Biden and his corrupt drug addict son.

I agree, 2020 is over for them because they’ve gone too far already.
