Thats’ what i’m not understanding.
is this like double secret probation?
Basically nonsense?
I THOUGHT there had to be a vote for impeachment in the house.
And now i know that a vote for impeachment doesn’t kick the POTUS out of office
the senate vote can do that right?
the senate vote can do that right?
Heres how it works.
The House has authority to vote on articles of impeachment. If they vote on articles of impeachment, it is akin to a criminal indictment. The trial is conducted by the Senate with the full Senate acting as a jury. A 2/3 vote is required to remove the president. Failure to get a 2/3 vote ends the impeachment proceedings and the president remains in office.
Now, Pelosis inquiry is not an impeachment proceeding by law. Its just we are going to run our stupid mouths about impeachment for a while before we decide whether we are having a vote on it. It has no legal meaning.
I wish they would pass articles of impeachment against Trump. They will fail and annihilate Dem chances in 2020.
IIRC, the house must get a simple majority vote to begin the process, then they must form managers for each charge, then the house must vote on each charge. Only those that get past that stage go to the senate where they need a 3/4 vote to convict. I’m sure I’m missing some details but that is the basics.
