“the senate vote can do that right?“

Here’s how it works.

The House has authority to vote on articles of impeachment. If they vote on articles of impeachment, it is akin to a criminal indictment. The “trial” is conducted by the Senate with the full Senate acting as a jury. A 2/3 vote is required to remove the president. Failure to get a 2/3 vote ends the impeachment proceedings and the president remains in office.

Now, Pelosi’s inquiry is not an impeachment proceeding by law. It’s just “we are going to run our stupid mouths about impeachment for a while before we decide whether we are having a vote on it.” It has no legal meaning.

I wish they would pass articles of impeachment against Trump. They will fail and annihilate Dem chances in 2020.

This, post 112. An internal circle jerk by democrats to appease their ignorant voter base. If Pelosi is crazy enough to hold an impeachment vote based on current evidence, SC Chief Justice will just tell the dems to piss-off because their is no evidence, just politics. Chief Justice acts like an Attorney General, Grand Jury, and of course Judge if it goes to "trial" in the Senate.

If the transcript is a nothing burger, then Pelosi will have a rather large egg on her face and the "inquiry" a complete farce.
