“That’s three...
Eddie Money
Rick Ocasik
Cokie Roberts”

Classic one of these is not like the others situation.

Although she was just another mouthpiece for the Rat Party, may she RIP.

There’s a lot of that going on. If you don’t mind, do you know what the death certificate listed?

Reminder: Free Republic has a long tradition of being respectful of our enemies, on obituary threads.

There are a few heinous exceptions, but Cokie is not one of them.

She was a lifelong swamp creature, born and bred. He mother and father were both powerful Democrat congress Representatives from Louisiana, with her mother also having been an Ambassador.

She was Status Quo....................

She represented the beltway consensus, don’t-rock-the-boat, conventional wisdom line.

She did a great job of convincing us what she presented was as you describe.

It may have been beltway consensus, but it was far from conventional wisdom. The big lie has been that beltway consensus was conventional wisdom.

Whoa... Apparently she is not very well liked over at DU.

They don’t like her due to her criticisms of Bill Clinton.

She came to speak to a graduate banking school class I attended about 1992 on the campus of LSU. During her speech, she made the statement that news was so complicated it had become necessary for the news media to interpret the news for the public. When I heard it, it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

If I had known what I know now, I would have “booed” her loudly. Unfortunately, she was part of the problem. The world is better off that she is gone, IMHO.

“Her father was Hale Boggs, dem House Majority leader. Went missing 40 years ago on a plane flight in Alaska.”

Flying in light planes seems to be something that takes a lot of celebrities’ lives.

I don’t remember, but she was in a vegetative state for a month, aged 38 with 3 children.

I suspected at the time that the doctors killed her..................

If she was civil, it was because of the era in which she was raised and her Southern background.

Prayer for the dead and fairness in personal judgment are not "virtue signaling," they're virtue.

May she be received in His Mercy and rest in peace.

He said she got the name Cokey because she loved Coca Cola when she was a toddler.

A typical Liberal do-gooder in her circles would send you or me to jail for feeding our toddler Coca Cola.

"And she did it with the detached sense of haughty indifference that made you almost sense the missing glass of Chardonnay in her left hand."

And as one other poster noted further in the thread she noted something to the effect we have to filter / interrupt for you because it is so complicated. I do remember her saying once w/ that indifference that everyone in DC is having an affair, it is just the Democrats have more fun with it. RIP....

The libs accuse Cokie of "virtue signaling" because she judged Bill Clinton to be morally deficient (people who resent sound judgment always call it "virtue signaling") ---

The libs also don't like her because, although nominally "pro-choice," she was not a rabid abortion enthusiast and always treated pro-lifers in a respectful way, even occasionally giving them a public platform. She thought pro-lifers had something to say which people ought to hear.
