Ted Cruz: Trump Will Lose in 2020 if He Cuts Deal on Gun Control
Bretibart ^ | 13 Sep 2019 | AWR HAWKINS

Posted on 09/13/2019 9:41:43 PM PDT by conservative98

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned that President Trump will lose in 2020 if he cuts a deal with Democrats regarding gun control.

Roll Call reports that Cruz offered this observation while speaking to reporters at a Thursday breakfast. He contended that conservative voters will stay home if Trump and the Republicans as a whole cave to Democrat demands.

He was asked about the possibility of Trump making a deal with gun control stalwarts Sens. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).

Cruz said, “We’re going to see record-setting Democratic turnout. The only element missing is demoralizing conservatives so they stay home. I hope we don’t do that.”

He also noted, “If Republicans abandon the Second Amendment and demoralize millions of Americans who care deeply about Second Amendment rights, that could go a long way to electing a President Elizabeth Warren.”

Cruz also suggested it would be a big mistake for Trump to voice support for the Democrats’ background check bill, saying, “It would also be a serious mistake as a policy matter.”

And not to forget grants to push states into passing commie red flag laws in one of the federal bills being discussed.

Some conservatives will reject anything if Ted Cruz is saying it. Many still haven’t ‘forgiven’ him for opposing the president back in 2016. There should be nothing to forgive, since competing views and priorities are all a part of the election process. And since many people do change over time once they have adjusted to a new reality.
Mitch McConnell has adjusted quite well. He was not for Trump at all in the beginning.

These ‘family fights’ help to temper that candidate for when the other side pounces on every syllable that he or she decides to speak.

They should be tempered like steel, ready for battle.
Trump was battle tested, and he prepared for it in a way no one had seen before to this extent. Trump is still being tested to this day, by the Mitts, Boltons and Ben Sasse’s of the party.

"Isn’t he the guy that barely beat beto?"

Why, yes, he was.

Question: Were we surprised?

Answer: Ann "Big Mouth" Richards, 45th Governor of Texas.

If President Trump is not elected, I wonder what will come out of the ugly wash to follow? Perhaps, repeal of the 19th? I reckon that after enough hardship, many will learn some lessons.

How Dramatically Did Women's Suffrage Change the Size and Scope of Government?

JOHN R. LOTT Jr.
American Enterprise Institute (AEI) (download links for whole document at bottom of page)

September 1998

University of Chicago Law School, John M. Olin Law & Economics Working Paper No. 60
Journal of Political Economy, Vol. 107, Number 6, Part 1, pp. 1163-1198, December 1999

Abstract:
This paper examines the growth of government during this century as a result of giving women the right to vote. Using cross-sectional time-series data for 1870 to 1940, we examine state government expenditures and revenue as well as voting by U.S. House and Senate state delegations and the passage of a wide range of different state laws. Suffrage coincided with immediate increases in state government expenditures and revenue and more liberal voting patterns for federal representatives, and these effects continued growing over time as more women took advantage of the franchise. Contrary to many recent suggestions, the gender gap is not something that has arisen since the 1970s, and it helps explain why American government started growing when it did.

Trump will somehow manage to use the gun debate to make the dems look even more insane than they already do.

He knows they will shoot for the moon and he will cut them off at the knees for it.

Oh, so you think that accepting and expanding (like the dimrats) want to expand gun control is a winning strategy for PDJT?

Whaat are you smoking?

Just because you don’t like Cruz is no reason to denigrate a statement made by him. ESPECIALLY WHEN HE’S CORRECT!!!

As someone else stated, Cruz is choosing to engage in straw man arguments against Trump. Educate yourself.

Cruz is correct.

President Trump, if you sign ANY bill on gun control then I, and many, many people who I know, will go to the range on Election Day. I don’t say this lightly, but this single issue is more important than any other. I am a STAUNCH supporter, but if you betray your promise on this issue then nothing else matters...the dictatorship is coming, either when you lose, or in 3025.

The Dens in the House will never allow the repeal of a single existing gun control law - are you dreaming? Not even to get an “asssult weapon ban - they would rather wait with no progress than step back one millimeter on this issue.

"Fascinating stuff. Sad though."

Very much agreed. I don't want to see the hardships of a civil conflict. That would be horrid. But the slower, more incremental path to communism (the current path) would be far more difficult to correct, with the suffering going on for possibly a hundred years or more.

Considering the last time the President “did something” regarding “gun control”: The most useless, feel good, pathetic excuse of a ban on “bump-fire” attachments, Cruz has a legitimate point. Whether he is a Canadian or not!

So you think that if Trump loses, there’s a chance that women’s right to vote will be repealed? Uh, who do you think will be running things if he loses? Hint, it’s the party of gun control and invasive, controlling regulations, the one least likely to repeal the 19th, if such is even possible (outside of a Moslem takeover).

Teddy, grandstanding again for his own benefit. Do not forget this self serving grandstanding POLITICIAN refused to attend the Convention and recognize President Trump as the nominee. He is yet another lifelong worthless POLITICIAN who has never ever done a damned thing in his life other than government.
NEVER EVER EVER Vote for anyone who has never had a real job ever in their life. They will claim to relate to us for votes. But, they are totally, completely, 100% full of CRAP.

We know who will be running things. You should also know that those commie hags and their sphincter boys will likely cause a general collapse. Anyone who believes that the 19th Amendment will stand after such a collapse in the U.S.A. is dreaming.

One family, one vote!

I don’t agree.

He should not cut a bad gun deal. Probably won’t.

But even if he did, who else is there to vote for?
