Gun rights activists in Texas are testing Walmarts request not to open-carry in stores by doing just that.
David Amad, the vice president of Open Carry Texas, told The New York Times the 38,000 members of his group have openly carried their guns inside Walmart stores since the retailer announced last week it is respectfully requesting customers to no longer openly bring guns into its stores.

Walmart made a respectful request that people NOT carry guns on Walmart’s private property. I can’t really see any good coming from this.
I think you could line up a hundred non-urban folks and they will simply continue to walk in with their open-carry situation. Wal-Mart might confront them, and all of them would respond that it was mighty fine to ‘request’ upon them, but unless Wal-Mart brings in a couple of armed door ‘greeters’...their request is null and void.
Maybe if confronted, you could suggest to them....to go ahead and plan on shutting down because you won’t be shopping there in the future.
And it is the customers right to not let them get away with that. And please stop calling it private property . It is a business, and a place of public accommodation.
But you have no problem with waving your d*** around here.
You don’t appreciate your rights. You are willing to compromise. You are wiling to surrender. You are willing to demonstrate cowardice in the face of political correctness. You are afraid someone might be offended by a visible firearm.
Others are not — they carry your weight. Your dead weight.
The second amendment IS their carry permit. They are patriots.
Public opinion polls by corrupt media Democrats are your guide. You are afraid of your own shadow.
The problem I see with these “requests” to not open carry is that firearms are treated like something to be ashamed of.
Sort of like not wearing your MAGA cap because someone may be offended.
If people are shamed for open carrying then seeing a firearm will be unusual.
If people start seeing their neighbors, friends and “some guys” at the store carrying and just going about their lives, then at some point it will become “normal”. You can only get outraged or “terrified” so many times in one day.
Sooner or later most people won’t even pay attention to the hog on your hip. Unless it’s really cool. /grin
Im with Wal Mart
Your rights as a citizen of the United States of America do not supersede the policy of a privately owned business, regardless of how you feel and how many bakers and florists have been harassed, sued, fined and run out of business.
Your actions only hurt those of us that carry, all the time, but do so in a concealed, more adult manner. All you’re doing is feeding their fire.
I’ll allow a retired Delta Force Sgt Major carry on ..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6HpUi_oc9U
NOT to OPENLY carry guns. Nothing wrong with putting your shirt over it.
Ok, and then they say....NO GUNS ALLOWED or GUN FREE ZONE or GUN FREE STORE...Boy howdy, you really proved your point....Man o Man, what a lifesaver you are.
I’m with you. Carry concealed.
Im with you. Carry anyway you want.
I understand both of you but not so far as to cast aspersions but I am coming around. Starting to think more of open carry every day for no other reason than we need to start normalizing it. We have been hiding for too long. If the fags can come out of the closet may be we should as well.
If customers are allowed to discriminate against a business, then a business should be able to discriminate against customers.
Walmart’s store?
Then - Walmart’s rules.
You seem to be dangerously penis obsessed ..
CLIMATE SCIENCE!!!!1111
The POINT it makes is that "the right of the people to keep AND BEAR arms shall not be infringed".
The Walmart CEO said that there will be signs. Employees have also been told that if an open carrier makes them uncomfortable, that they are to tell management. The approach is advised to be non-confrontational, though.
Although we aren’t bothered by open carry by one who appears and behaves in a reasonable manner, we also know that some people don’t. That’s just it. Some people will spoil the intentions of others. Some of the freaks don’t intend to be goons, but they are. A few are probably grooming weirdly and acting weirdly on purpose in order to stop everyone else from carrying.
That’s why I decided that open carry is not a good way to go for me. If I were to do that to make more people calmer about seeing weapons, vain creeps addicted to getting attention would still do it to bother people. Many people are eventually, naturally going to generalize about all who carry openly and want the practice stopped.
Increasingly more people already know that many others are carrying concealed. It’s easier for them to cope with that, when people who carry concealed don’t look like the run of the mill spook de ville. Look clean. Look sharp.
Also, open carry is less secure in crowds where people stand close to each other, where criminals are more often encountered, etc.
If well planned and used, clothing can be a good extra barrier against being disarmed and attacked. A good foundation of street smart awareness and barehanded self-defense adds much more to security. Good grooming and behavior adds even more. Poor grooming, poor posture and vanity are magnets to some violent criminals.
Many police departments are really careful about how their employees carry concealed and are quite restrictive about how it’s to be done (very concealed). Others, often depending on characteristics of the communities around them, are more liberal.
If Walmart doesn’t want open carry in their Texas stores, all they need do is put up a 30.07 sign by the door and folks with a LTC won’t open carry there. Simple.
If they don’t want concealed carry, put up a 30.06 sign.
It’s Texas law.
