An armed man who allegedly tried to rob a mobile phone store in Philadelphia on Monday was shot and killed by an employee in a dramatic moment captured on video.
The Philadelphia Police Department said the incident happened just after 4 p.m. at a Metro PCS store in the southwest part of the city when an unidentified man who appeared to be in his late 30s entered the business.
The man was trying to rob the store when the lone employee inside who has a permit to carry a firearm fired at the would-be robber multiple times, striking him.
"I heard about 10 shots and I got out (of) the car to look around and I saw the guy that works there run out of the store with a gun in his hand," a man who wished to not be identified told FOX29.
Police said the robber was pronounced dead at the scene minutes later.

Well, that would be robber won’t make that mistake again.
I wonder if he was an aspiring rapper, getting ready to turn his life around? I wonder if his momma will come out, say he was a misunderstood young man?
"He wasn't going to hurt anyone! Why didn't you shoot him in the leg?"
Didn’t read the article, but the lead says an “armed man”. When they fail to identify skin color, it might be a tip off.
WOW! Imagine if that Clerk hadn't been armed, the perp probably would have shot him by accident, he is so stupid and careless.
The Twitter thread posted above is worth the click. It clears up everything.
Great video, great result. Nothing better than seeing an armed robber take the room temperature challenge.
And I think they can dispense with the “alleged” here, unless flashing a gun is a customary part of the phone buying process in Philadelphia.
Whoa. I think he’s going to catch hell for shooting him so many times while he was down.
Not that I mind.... but I think he will catch hell for that from the usual suspects.
Nah, this particular armed victim of a madman with a legal firearm was a gentleman and scholar, pillar of the community, deacon at the African Church of Brother Love, and aspiring brain surgeon. /SARC
His feet were still moving. He fired until the threat was over and then exited to safety. Looks to me that he did everything by the book. He was well-trained.
I’m sure the news will lead with his middle school graduation photo.
“...Whoa. I think hes going to catch hell for shooting him so many times while he was down....”
Perp appeared to still have his gun in his hand when he went down, and there is no way of knowing if he is, in fact, “down for the count” or if he’s gonna spin around and come up shooting. The guy did the right thing to ensure the threat was neutralized. Sometimes, it only takes one....sometimes, the whole magazine.
With adrenaline flowing and things happening fast, counting shots would be the last thing on anyone’s mind.
The armed defender is a left-handed shooter.
Kinda like the T-1000.
Society thanks you, Sir!
[Well, that would be robber wont make that mistake again.]
That’s pretty much what I was going to say. Time for the high school graduation photo.
My favorite part of the news clip is, "witness who wishes to remain anonymous and works at the pizza store across the street".
I picture one of the thousands who must work at the pizza store across the street and how difficult it would be to pick his voice out of the mob.
Although the robber was on the ground, he still was holding a gun, and the clerk had to leave cover in order to be able to leave the store.
I would have done the same. You keep firing until you can be SURE the threat is stopped.
With 10 shots fired I’m sure he did get hit in the legs ... at least once....
“Why did you shoot the suspect 10 times?”
“It was a 10 round magazine?”
I sure hope not. The perp's feet are still moving while the clerk is shooting & the gun is near his hands and out of the clerk's vision. He could be just lying there, waiting for his chance to get in a shot at the clerk.
OTOH if the first shot killed the perp, what are they going to charge the clerk with? Abuse of a corpse?
