Finally, conservatives have a street fighter as president

Has there been a president in living memory who relishes a fight more than Trump? I don't think so. That is a major reason why he remains popular with conservatives and has seen his favorability ratings rise.

Sure, I like President Trump's actions on job-killing regulations, tax relief, border security, energy independence, military funding, judicial appointments, and so on. But what really invigorates me and millions of other EverTrumpers is that he is fearless -- impervious to attacks by his adversaries and merciless in responding to them.

Trump is an oddity: a Republican president who stands up to the Left's defamations and brickbats and returns fire. His prickly personality is one driving force; another is Twitter, the social media megaphone he uses to bypass the legacy media's censors.

Especially gratifying to his base is Trump's war on PC and his refusal to be restrained by liberals' standards of what constitutes acceptable speech. Go after him and your race or ethnicity will not protect you from his wrath. House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings learned this lesson recently, to his chagrin. In a nation where Trumpers are afraid to wear a MAGA cap in public, who else would dare to call out a civil rights icon on conditions in his district?

The drumbeat of criticism and calumny directed at the president by his political opponents and the media have had no discernible physical or emotional effect on him, except perhaps to make him more energetic and determined, and his tweets more sharply worded and devastating. Meanwhile, those who spew venom in their rage against the man are diminished. (See the latest comment by Rob "Meathead" Reiner.) As he fends off with alacrity the daily assaults on his character, intelligence, and motives, supporters like me are heartened.

It’s the same qualities that invigorate us that make the middle of the road yellow stripes cringe.

They’re unaccustomed to honesty.

Trump’s approach to China alone speaks to his courage.

Between China and the EU forming their Trade Monopoly, things definitely have gotten out of hand.

I said it many times here, as someone who lived and worked in the construction industry in NYC in the late 70’s and 80’s when Trump came on the scene even tough New Yorkers came to understand Donald Trump did not f around. Hit him and he hit back twice as hard. He was a straight shooter and tough. And he loves The United States of America and the American dream.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yes, and I'm tempted to place his approach to the Fed right up there too.

As with Ronald Reagan, when Donald Trump is gone the GOP will have learned NOTHING. The Republican Party is a fake alternative to the Democrat/Media Party. They exist to give us the false hope that we actually have a choice.

This is absolutely right on, and why I was attracted to him in the first place. He is a great president!

That’s what NYC produces when the person isn’t a leftist.

I’m surprised every morning that I’m still allowed on this board, but we’re just not very good at pulling our punches.

And that’s because most NYers are animals and so you better be ready to throw down in the streets and in the offices or you’re finished.

I remember not having my metro card for the express bus and I yelled out to the whole bus (about 50 people) “can someone help me because I cannot be late today”.

Not a word.

“EXCUSE ME BUT WILL ONE ####ING PERSON SHOW THAT THEY GIVE A #### ABOUT ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES AND HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!”

One older guy finally came forward and swiped for me.

I have heard a million times and believe that southerners/mid westerns are much nicer on average.

It’s not something that’s hard to believe.

But this nastiness forged a great president.

It still sucks.

Staten Island better than the others though.

I gotta move :)

This is what I am afraid of. Our politics goes through bizarre, yet predictable cycles. I think the GOPe dopes are dead as a real political party. Even though the NeverTrumps made it personal attacking President Trump,I think the real "never" is America going back to our greatness and full potential. MAGA makes their blood boil. They are bitter swamp scum. That presents a challenge for real conservatives. We know what the Jackass party is. They are going full tilt to destroy America.Who will replace President Trump? I do know the next DNC President will be something that will want to drive a stake into the heart of everything MAGA achieved.

Ha! It’s the truth!

I’m an airline pilot and spend most of my time at work out of the country. I’m also a southerner so I know just how different New Yorkers are from southerners. I constantly hear people refer to the French, Parisians in particular, as rude. I spend a lot of time in Paris and I’m here to tell you that a Parisian is a lightweight when it comes to rudeness compared to New Yorkers, they’re not even in the same league. In fact Parisians are actually nice if you treat them with a little bit of politeness, get snarky with them and they’ll snap back at you. New Yorkers are jerks no matter how you treat them, no amount of kindness will get them to lighten up.

Whatever the reason, the stars aligned when we got Trump. I never thought in my wildest dreams that a former democrat from New York City would make a great president, but here he is.

I’m amazed at how beloved in flyover country is this president who is in a very real sense some kid from Queens. The way he walks talks and acts. Think about that. The guy screams NY.
