On Saturday's CNN Newsroom, during an interview with former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, CNN host Ana Cabrera failed to inform viewers of some very important facts as she discussed the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate's successes in passing gun control in his home state in 2013.
As the CNN host asked the Democratic presidential candidate about the issue of how to get at least some Republicans to go along with such measures, she failed to note that violent crime has increased substantially in Colorado every year since the passage of more gun control in 2013.
What's more, violent crime had been on a steady decline over the previous decade before the new gun restrictions were adopted, making the crime change in the wrong direction even more striking.
Cabrera noted that Hickenlooper had enacted gun control in his state in response to the 2012 mass shooting at an Aurora movie theater, and, in her second question to him, posed:
As governor in 2013, you managed to get universal background checks for all gun purchases, you got a high-capacity magazine ban limit, but you got those laws without any Republican support. That obviously can't work on a national level, so what's it going to take?
Hickenlooper complained about the NRA lobbying against "universal background checks" in his state, and claimed that all the Republicans he knew supported the measure, leading Cabrera to follow up: "Right, and isn't that the situation we're dealing with now, too? So, again, how do you get past that? How do you break through that to actually accomplish it in a bipartisan fashion if you can't just rely on one party to do it?"

Would that be Alfred E Hickenlooper former gov? Who ever would have expected that huh? Maybe they can take some pointers from chitcago since they have such awesome anti 2nd amendment infringements in place that work just awesome. And yup, the Trump is a white supremacist theme does come up.

Do those leftist idiots actually believe that criminals will give up their guns and magazines or adhere to “universal background checks????
Do they actually think criminals all go to gun stores and submit all that to get a weapon???

Could the increase in violent crime be attributed in part to Colorado’s passage of relaxed marijuana laws?

It seems that, where gun control is concerned, the only success that matters to CNN journalists is actually passing the gun restrictions
Dims never concern themselves with Unintended Consequences.

Excellent point. The influx of people, too since 2013 either because of legal use of pot or in general. If “in general” and not drug users then I would expect those people to be law abiding. The drug user element have a tendency towards crime.

They don’t, they know criminals buy stolen weapons off the street.
This is to disarm the citizens.
Being shot by armed citizens is an occupational hazard to criminals.

Liberals and gun control go together. When it comes to high crime rates, its impossible to say which is the cause. Might even be that they both are the cause.

“...This is to disarm the citizens...”
Yep...Do they actually think this would happen???
What percentage of the citizens do you believe would give up their firearms???

After Florida passed ‘conceal carry’ our crime rates DROPPED like a lead balloon... the opposite of what our liberal elites newspapers said would happen...
One key to this gun violence mess is to look at what works NOT WHAT FEELS GOOD.
