CNNs Chris Cuomo used a tweet Thursday to suggest the Second Amendment only protected a collective right until Supreme Justice Antonin Scalia read an individual right into it.
Cuomo tweeted:
Do you remember what the 2a was created for? That there was no individual right contemplated until Scalia read it in? If you are an originalist about the constitution you have no basis for thinking you and not the state controls access. https://t.co/j5IAC3NTMZ

Notice the last sentence of Cuomos tweet, If you are an originalist about the constitution you have no basis for thinking you and not the state control access. He is saying because the Second Amendment only protects a collective right, in his opinion, then the true originalist position is to believe you only have guns if the state says so.

Fredo. You can’t miss him. Go back and read the book or watch the movie. It’s like saying you missed “Golem’’ in “Lord Of The Rings’’.
Never read it saw any of those either!!............
His brain is dead, Jim.
Little more can reasonably be aimed at, with respect to the people at large, than to have them properly armed and equipped; and in order to see that this be not neglected, it will be necessary to assemble them once or twice in the course of a year.Hamilton wanted the people to gather occasionally to show that their weapons were functional and they knew how to use them.
That sounds like an individual right to me.

It is dominant and controlling.
“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Translation for modern readers:
Citizens who know how to use and maintain their personal weapons being necessary to fight for a free state against thieves and totalitarians in government, the right of people to keep and carry arms shall not be infringed by any law so that the people can overthrow any government that has grown oppressive.
Sad that we have to endure the liberal progressive idiocy that runs in rat families. I remember Bob grant talk show in NYC when the sfachime Mario Cuomo was governor, father of these demon seeds drew and Chris
Yea, the Cuomo's have plagued New York for decades. We had one year of a Republican Governor under Pataki, until he flipped.
Well then, its a good thing he doesnt have a say.
But a conclusive answer to the contention that this amendment prohibits the legislation in question lies in the fact that the amendment is a limitation only upon the power of Congress and the national government, and not upon that of the state. [citation to Cruikshank omitted] ...It is undoubtedly true that all citizens capable of bearing arms constitute the reserved military force or reserve militia of the United States as well as of the states, and, in view of this prerogative of the general government, as well as of its general powers, the states cannot, even laying the constitutional provision in question [2nd amendnment] out of view, prohibit the people from keeping and bearing arms so as to deprive the United States of their rightful resource for maintaining the public security, and disable the people from performing their duty to the general government.
So...why didn’t the Founders refer to “the rights of the states” instead of the right of the people?
Cuomo is a loser. Everybody knows it.
The Bill of Rights pertain to We The People, versus They The Government.
People of average intelligence and above can read the Second Amendment and understand what was meant by it. Only stupid people have different interpretations of it. Apparently CNN hired Chris Cuomo thinking he was of average intelligence or above, but they were mistaken, obviously.
That’s not funny.
Moore is not to be laughed at...it’s too easy.
He is to be ignored...the fat lump!
I hope that’s what you mean.
Funny, SCOTUS came to the same individual right conclusion in Dred Scott in 1857.
Excellent post.

Good post - thats great
Abortion was not a Constitutional right until the SCOTUS said it was, even though it isn’t found in the Constitution. No problem there. Right Gov.?
The 2nd amendment doesn’t mean the individuals have the right to hold and bear arms, even though the SC says it does and the 2A does say that. Is that right Mr. Governor.
I’m confused Governor. Isn’t your reasoning just the opposite of what the Constitution says or doesn’t say?
