This is the problem with a dumbed-down population (thank you public schools and universities!), Cuomo sounds reasonable and appears he knows what he’s talking about.

Compared with his cohorts on CNN and competitors on MSNBC, he is.

Yep. I actually went back and watched some of his videos on Youtube and he does try to work the “centrist, no raally!” schtick, kinda like Bill O’reiley did. It’s pretty funny, actually. I suppose that to someone on the hard left, he seems that way.

This is very simple, so simple that even a Cuomo should be able to understand it. The bill of rights deals with...rights (yeah, I know, that’s a shocker). However, whether you were dealing with the federal government or a state or local government, those entities do not have rights. They only have powers. Rights can only be subscribed to, or natural in, individual human beings. When the second amendment speaks of the “right to keep and bear arms” it can only be speaking of an individual right.

Cuomo is a first rate horses ass, which is another way of saying that he’s a credit to his family.

In Federalist Papers number 46, James Madison completely disabuses anyone with two functioning neurons of the impossibility of the Second Amendment applying to anything but individuals. I guess this explains why Cuomo has difficulty understanding it.

If this arrogant imbecile wants to embrace original intent, he will find many things he won’t like. For example, the Bill of Rights was never meant to protect individuals from their own state governments. The Bill of Rights was intended to protect people and the states from the federal government. Only following the poorly written post Civil War amendments did leftwing judges dream up the incorporation doctrine wherein the entire Bill of Rights was applied to constrain the states. Ah, but not the entire Bill of Rights but only those rights that the liberal judges favored. Thus for decades the 2nd Amendment was not “incorporated” and even when it was, it was thought to be a second class right not deserving “strict scrutiny” of its encroachments like the rights they preferred.

There are a great many letters, briefs and pamphlets documented by the founders and framers of the Constitution explain what things meant and why they were included. The Federalist Papers and Anti-Federalist Papers was a well documented debate and touched on everything. Then there were writing regarding the Constitution and Amendments in the years following the writing and eventual ratification of the Constitution. The individual right as the intent is well documented by the players that drafted and lobbied for the Amendment. It should not be debatable or subject to interpretation.

Nobody doubts the individuality of the 1st Amendment is never in question.

I would like to see Cuomo explain one of the powers vested in the Congress in article 1, section 8 of the constitution. Specifically, I referred to the power that Congress has to issue letters of Marque and Reprisal. These specifically empower Congress to authorize individuals or groups of individuals to sees enemy merchant ships and warships. By all logical necessity, putting such a clause in the constitution must mean that individuals possessed weapons capable of taking on enemy warships, such as ships with multiple cannon. FWIW, cannon were the WMD of that era. I don’t know how anybody with even a modest amount of logic and a modest knowledge of history could possibly misunderstand the implication of that clause in the Constitution. When you put that together with the avowed purpose of the entire bill of rights, which was to make everybody certain that the government that was being created could not legally infringe upon certain basic rights, you come to the On alterable conclusion that the second amendment was put into the bill of rights to specifically protect the ability of individual citizens to protect their liberty from the government that had just been created, and also to be able to give real meaning to the Because in the main body of the constitution dealing with letters of Marque and Reprisal.

Only an utter moron, or a lying, power hungry SOB, could come to a different conclusion. I know for a fact that Cuomo falls into at least one of those categories.

Cuomo thinks “the right of the People” means “the people do NOT have a right”.

But when I write “Cuomo does not have a brain” it means “Cuomo does not have a brain”.

What with Cuomo being a Constitutional lawyer and all that. The citizens know more about the Constitution than liberals or this idiot.

It comes from Mario Puzo’s novel “The Godfather’’. Fredo was the oldest of Vito Coroleone’s sons but he was weak and ineffectual.

Fredo. You can’t miss him. Go back and read the book or watch the movie. It’s like saying you missed “Golem’’ in “Lord Of The Rings’’.
