Can the Millennials Save Playboy?

“The water is meant to represent gender and sexual fluidity,” Mr. Singh said, seated beneath a 1988 Herb Ritts portrait of Cindy Crawford. The women who would pose in that water — their limbs wrapped around one another in a balletlike pose — were not simply models but activists. One uses performance art and digital media to share stories about the H.I.V. epidemic. Another is an underwater dancer who promotes ocean conservation. The third, a Belgian artist, recently filmed herself walking naked through a Hasidic neighborhood of Brooklyn during a sacred holiday.

I can remember when sneaking into my bedroom or friend's trusty treehouse to google the latest copy of Playboy, or even PentHouse, to see the half or even fully naked beauties with their tan lines or, (gasp! pubic hair) that while we didn't fully appreciate the full ramifications of the pleasures hidden below those thick luxurious locks horny 13 year old boys could only imagine, our imagination would have to wait to experience these delights outside the glossy pages of these naughty but unforgettable visions of heaven.

Nowadays, these poor prepubescent boys will be terible disapointed and have to guess if these lovelies are truly female, naturally female or have a hidden penis photoshopped out of the picture.

So happy I was a teenager back in the late sixties and earlier seventies.

In a world of hardcore internet pornography, hard core pornography DVDs, etc how does a tame, by today’s standards, magazine such as Playboy find its niche???

At one time, Playboy was daring and risked running afoul of obscenity laws. In the early years, Playboy did not show full frontal, presumably to stay on the right side of the obscenity laws in effect at the time.

As times changed, Playboy has been left behind by all the hard core pornography out there.

No they can’t, and won’t.

Have you perused the internet before?

Playboy and Penthouse are so tame compared to what’s out there today, the old line about ‘I only read it for the articles’ was never more true. Even back in the 70’s, magazines like Hustler and Screw left them in the dust as far as explicit nudity went. I wouldn’t know about that, though. *cough* I only read them for the articles.

Playboy deserves nothing.

I just read Playboy for its articles. Wink wink, nudge nudge. Anyhow, Playboy was founded by a pimp who just got lucky. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Remember some controversy in 1976 when Jimmy Carter did an interview with Playboy? I guess Jimmy was trying to prove that he was with it back then.

Who cares?

I'm with ya, I got over Playboy decades ago, I got married and when you have the real thing what do you need Playboy for.................Oh, right, the arrrticles

When a person, if they so desire, can find images or videos of any beautiful___________ fill in the bland or perversion of their choice for free on the interweb why would they pay for Playboy in either print or video form?

If it's just a matter of salacious still photos, there are effectively an unlimited supply for free on the 'net.

Nobody is going to pay for those, either on paper or behind a paywall.

Playboy had its run, it’s done.

Just like 8-track tapes, troll dolls and 3-speed transmissions.

I totally snuck my dad’s Penthouses that were actually somewhat ingeniously hidden.

Truth be told, I actually did read the articles. There was a really cool one about UFOs and Area 51, which I was into back then. Come to find out, the same publisher also did my two other favorite magazines, Omni and Compute!.

“The water is meant to represent gender and sexual fluidity,” Mr. Singh said

Sounds like Playboy needs to fire the multitude of idiots on their staff that allowed this thinking to happen

but they probably won't, and will suffer as a result
