SAN ANTONIO - A 9-year-old boy is safe after police say he was kidnapped and almost trafficked to another city, but police were able to track him down just in time.
Police spent the entire night tracking down the child until he was found inside a car at a local grocery store.
Things ended around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at an H-E-B on the South Side off Goliad Road and Southeast Military Drive.
Police said the boy was kidnapped in the downtown area and authorities were immediately notified along with Homeland Security.
San Antonio Police's ROPE officers followed several leads that brought them to this store where the suspect and the boy were going to be.
SAPD officers were called to assist the arrest. They were able to block in a car in the parking lot and recovered the kidnapped boy and placed a man under arrest.

This list shows HEB as #13 - but interesting is that several on the list are food companies. But on that list, I am sure several are "private" but not "family owned" rather owned by large investment groups. So maybe HEB is at or near the top of family controlled private companies.
And FWIW, I knew what HEB was - I spent some time in the Austin area (Georgetown) and I have been in their markets, I just couldn't resist making a stupid (and probably old) joke.
Strange that they went with the initials instead of just calling it “Butt Foods”.
Used to buy $1.50 six-packs of generic beer (Pearl Light) there, back in the day when the AF base still existed.
I was at an HEB a few months ago while visiting family. Milk was $1.26 a gallon! (It’s around $4 a gallon, here in Oklahoma).
“Not seriously hurt” is NOT the same as “serious bodily injury” for purposes of the mandatory life sentence for kidnapping. I hope the perp gets that.
