The owners of a new cafe in Greensburg hope that the lure of coffee, along with the cuteness factor of cats, will help more rescue animals find permanent homes.
Katelynn and Rob Jones are looking to open Cattfeinated Cat Cafe around October in the former Shalimar Bazaar at 159 E. Otterman St.
Katelynn Jones is president of Wayward Whiskers Animal Rescue, a volunteer-run Greensburg cat rescue. The couple started the rescue, which is operated through foster homes, in 2015.
“We are cat lovers and rescuers,” Jones says.

Before Trumpanomics, property in my hometown would stay vacant for months or even years. Now, they have a new downtown tenant before the retiring business has even closed.
I think there is one of these cat/coffee places in downtown Omaha. IIRC, they charge something like $7/30 minutes (PLUS your coffee or beverage price), to let you spend time in the room with the cats.
Interesting concept, but wonder whether it can stay in business.
They can call it The Crazy Cat-Lady Coffee Shoppe...
Our family cat (adopted when my daughter & family got transferred to Tokyo by her company) clearly favors my wife. But she will come and greet me before I leave for work in the morning, usually. I miss it when she doesn't. Kitties are such appreciate creatures.

We have a cat. We got him 6 years ago - he lived in a household with another cat and 2 dogs, one a Rottweiler - anyway, the other cat was found dead one day with no wounds or clear cause, but thought maybe the rottie broke its neck in playing with it??? - so our cat came to live with us.
Our Bob favors me, but my husband is a great back-up if he needs to be scratched. Bob will often greet me when I get home from work, which is a great feeling, as you said. He is so sweet, LOVES it when I just talk to him or seem to be catering to him.

I could list all the risks and consequences of sex, but people still enjoy it.
In my experience people that have many cats ignore the health of the cats and create an unhealthy environment. The people that have the multiple cat facilities ignore basic sanitation with the excrement of the cats too. Sure, dogs carry diseases and unprotected sex cause disease but they don’t build a cafe around them to increase the contact.
“Call me skeptical but I see people capitalizing on this phenomenon without a clue on what cats need health wise. Coxiella, Toxoplasma, Chlamydia, and Dermatophytes are zoonotics that catteries without a closed environment promote. Cats also are affected and can carry the flu. Stray and rescued cats also have FLV, FTLV, Herpesvirus, Calici, Rhinopheumonitis, and Caronaviruses like FIP (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome anyone), and Panleukopenia. Not to mention the intestinal parasites that cats that come from rescues or cat impounds. I’d be afraid to drink coffee in those places.
DON’T GO TO STARBUCKS IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF THESE DISEASES.
Cat cafes are a thing in CA.
There’s also the annual CatCon, an actual convention for cat people. Which is scary, IMO.
Sounds like they operate for a worthy cause - helping kitties find homes. They don’t have dog cafes because dogs drool, bite and smell horribly.
Cat will be patrolling the living room window ledge guarding against any unwelcome critters who try to enter by window or wall.
