Our family cat (adopted when my daughter & family got transferred to Tokyo by her company) clearly favors my wife. But she will come and greet me before I leave for work in the morning, usually. I miss it when she doesn't. Kitties are such appreciate creatures.
We have a cat. We got him 6 years ago - he lived in a household with another cat and 2 dogs, one a Rottweiler - anyway, the other cat was found dead one day with no wounds or clear cause, but thought maybe the rottie broke its neck in playing with it??? - so our cat came to live with us.
Our Bob favors me, but my husband is a great back-up if he needs to be scratched. Bob will often greet me when I get home from work, which is a great feeling, as you said. He is so sweet, LOVES it when I just talk to him or seem to be catering to him.
