My rule of thumb. If you want to know good a government you have, check the condition of the roads. Good governments deliver good roads. Sh!tty governments have bad roads, but will ban plastic straws. Civics in a nutshell.
Why Can’t America Fill a Pothole?
Liberals in charge of our cities, counties, states and the country. They have no reason to fill potholes.
Their job is to hate Trump/Americans and to raise our taxes, and supposedly to fill potholes. Which they never do unless they fill the potholes with worthless crud which is gone in a week or less.
They can’t settle on a week to discuss it,

It’s impossible for one hole to fill another.
It’s also impossible for more than one hole (no matter how many there might be) to fill any hole whatsoever.
It’s impossible! Only failure will result when one attempts to remove a hole in a garment just by cutting it out.
My theory is that federal funding has induced a paralysis in local government. The city won’t fill a pothole until is has requested a federal grant for it, had it rejected, appealed it through the Department of Transportation and the courts until finally the whole road has fallen apart which will be paid by the feds. Dump the federal gas tax and all payments for roads except (maybe) interstates through low population states and tell cities and states to pay for their own d*** roads and they should be fixed quickly when they are saving their own money by repairing it quickly.
The county I’m in Wisconsin has had dozens of town roads closed which were wrecked and made impassable by the historic past snow storms melting snowl then past and recent torrents. But our democrat governor(Evers) has decided to divert road funds go to a street car line in Milwaukee.
Politicians and Bureaucrats don’t have all the PAPER WORK (and bribes) completed yet.
Yes we know; you filled out the permits and paper work 200 times already (but did you bribe the right people with the right amount of money or contributions)?
They are colloquially PROCESSING FEES.

The projects highlighted in the piece are new deals which are, to be sure, opposed by the green anuses. But the meme of a “crumbling infrastructure” is a wet dream of the society of civil engineers.

I saw them installing storm drains on an island.
Think about that, the only way it will flood is if the ocean rises.

Everywhere else gets a special taxing district to pay for new roads.

A few drops diesel in the mix destroys the blacktop when still hot before mix is poured in hole or resurfacing a roadway.
All infrastructure is built by the lowest bidder. On top of which a little malfeasance by the inspector and you have yourself a project that will last half as long as expected.
