‘Stupid Guy’ Ambassador Resigns. Great News for Trump, Boris, Britain and Brexit
Breitbart News ^ | 10 Jul 2019 | James Delingpole

Posted on 07/10/2019 11:51:09 AM PDT by protest1

Sir Kim Darroch, the British Ambassador to the U.S. described by President Trump as “a very stupid guy”, has resigned his post. The final straw, he has claimed, was watching future Prime Minister Boris Johnson repeatedly failing to support him last night in a TV debate.

This is great news for a number of reasons.

First, it means that Britain is now free to appoint a replacement ambassador prepared to nurture the Special Relationship rather than undermine it with snarky memos dissing President Trump.

Second, it has quite ruined the day of Britain’s liberal elite – aka the Wankerati. Anti-Brexit, anti-Trump, pro-climate-change hysteria, Darroch was very much their man in Washington. One dripping wet Times columnist has even gone so far as to suggest – without irony – that Darroch’s departure is a national humiliation to rank with the Suez crisis.

Third – and most importantly – it’s the first glint of steel we have seen from Boris Johnson and encouragingly suggests that Britain is about to get a Conservative prime minister very different from his recent predecessors.

The amb was always going to resign with a new PM coming in. He just wanted to flip the bird at POTUS on his way out the door and get some attaboy attention.

Huh. I was fully expecting them to keep him as ambassador, just to spite PDJT. Like when Obama sent openly gay ambassadors to strongly Catholic countries.

From the day his comments were leaked, this was the only possible outcome. He should have been recalled the day it happened. GB dragging this out only made it worse.

Great News for Trump, Boris, Britain and Brexit

Not really. This was a needless self-own by Britain, which compounded it by refusing to withdraw this ambassador.

Hi, any Mods reading can you do a minor edit to the article web link?

It points to Breitbart Europe front page, where the article currently is, but should point to the article directly.

I hope Sir Kim doesn’t forget to ride out on the horse he came in on.

Exactly. If they would have done it immediately, it would have been their decision alone. That’s not embarrassing. By doing it only after an outcry, it looks like they are succumbing to pressure, which makes them look much worse.

Yes, I agree he should have resigned immediately. I think his staying on was one last act of spite and malice from our EU loving PM, Theresa “Treason” May. She offered him her full support and we see how much good that did him!

Wank(er) is a distinctly British term

Synonymous with jack off

I think it was deliberately thought out by our soon to be Ex PM Theresa "Treason" May.

The British establishment was trying to do as much damage to USA/British relations as possible before she is finally forced out of 10 Downing Street.

However, I think it has all backfired on them, much like the never Trumpers in the USA. All they do is succeed in alienating the ordinary people and make themselves look like a bunch of incompetent malcontents.

"Britain’s liberal elite – aka the Wankerati."

It does describe them perfectly ;)

James Deligpole has used that description before in his articles.
