As patriots, we must root for anyone who is wearing the American flag on their jersey. But I’ve gotta confess – some of the women on the U.S. Soccer team have made that very hard to do.
It’s bad enough that some of them have disrespected the national anthem and others have cursed the president. It’s bad enough that many of them plan to boycott the White House visit.
But when Allie Long threw the American flag on the ground on national television — that is beyond disrespect.
“She knew exactly what she was doing, but just didn’t give a damn,” one sports fan noted on Instagram. “Damn amazing disrespect for a photo op.”
“Absolutely disgraceful,” wrote another. “Playing sports, you are taught at a young age to be respectful to the flag and our country.”
Thank goodness for the teammate who rushed over to retrieve the desecrated flag.
And perhaps the next time U.S. Soccer decides to field a team – maybe – just maybe – they could select soccer players who actually love the nation they will be representing.

I couldn’t disagree more. We do not have to root for them, I was rooting against them and I am very disappointed that these unpatriotic losers won.
I hope they all lose their spot to a trans-woman (man).
I don’t believe any of them were playing for the United States. I believe they were playing for themselves, not for the country. Oh, they like the country giving them the financial backing, lodging, food, training facilities, etc, but screw America. The entire damned mob can stay in france, their native country as far as I am concerned. To hell with them.

I hope to God that Trump does not invite that bunch of America haters to the White House. What good could possibly come from inviting those ill mannered brats to the White House? I don’t think Trump will take the bait, but if he does he will lose respect from people like me.

The news mentioned that President Trump tweeted a congratulation but then upstaged that with former president obozo going into an elaborate congratulation

Hard to believe the team includes Julie Ertz, wife of Philadelphia Eagles receiver Zach Ertz, and Carly Lloyd from nearby Deptford, NJ - I would bet these two at least are not among the anti-American snotnoses on the team, but you’ll never hear about them from the press......
More positive to point out the player who rapidly PICKED IT UP. Stop stoking peoples’ rage with NO solution. You’re just promoting conflict.
He should invite the FC Dallas U-15 team - the under-15 boys farm team that beat the women a couple of years ago.
