Two-thirds of voters support allowing the U.S. census to include a question about an individuals citizenship status, disagreeing with the Supreme Courts decision to block the question.
In a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released Tuesday, 67 percent of respondents said the question, Is this person a citizen of the United States? should be allowed on the census. That number included about 88 percent of Republicans, 52 percent of Democrats, and 63 percent of independents agreed.
The public here agrees with the administration that it makes sense to ask citizenship on the census, said poll director Mark Penn. It is a clear supermajority of Americans on this issue.

But apart of any poll, the citizenship question makes sense.
It makes sense to everyone except the loudest of loudmouth liberals.
I wonder what the presidential candidates think of this question?
Fedzilla doesn’t care what the citizens think.
The reasoning should be the American people have a right to know how many citizens and how many non-citizen are in the country.
Well, there you go! Democracy has spoken!!! lol
“how many non-citizen are in the country.”
according to the leftards and especially the MSM, it ALWAYS has been 11 million. It never changes for the past 20 years..
It would be interesting if there were 30 or 40 million
Back President Trumps effort to make certain the census form contains the citizenship question in it and no reference to race. But to the country of where the respondent is a citizen of if not an American citizen.
TIME TO END HYPHENATING AMERICANS
One thing the Mexican Constitution has that we should consider doing.Mexico has no hyphenated Mexicans. They prohibit any reference to race when they conduct a census or issue any means of identification, Where a photo id is not available physical description is needed skin color yes but not by race but by nationality..
By doing this Mexico has avoided balkanizing, creating fractional disputes in areas where a given group in one of its states is a majority or a minority. Plus it could play a significant part in shutting down the political playing off racial divisions between Americans by the
How are we to know how many of us are Americans citizens if we’re not allowed to ask who is an American citizen?
I don’t think the SCOTUS actually blocked putting the question on the census. They ruled that the decision should be resolved by the lower court which would take too long to meet the printing date for the forms. President Trump thinks they should be able to expedite the hearing and figure out what evil thought Wilbur Ross had in his mind when he asked to include the “Are You a Citizen?” question on the form. His tweet today contradicted the cozy little agreement the liberal lawyers thought they had to force the government to start printing without the question.
In a late development the court has asked the administration lawyer to twist the President’s arm and make him cave to their artificial timeline. If he can’t get Trump to cry uncle then the court can’t rely on the government to abide by the printing date and the lower court hearing will need to proceed and resolve the case as instructed by the SCOTUS ruling. They have until 2:00 PM Friday to get Trump to cave. Good luck with that!
I don’t know what the rush is to print the damn thing since it doesn’t get mailed until next March.
It’s a state by state issue....where in twenty-odd states, the number won’t amount to much or change their state population count in any serious way.
The five states with potential big issues in the count will be California, Texas, Florida, New York, and New Jersey. Close behind will be Illinois, and Georgia.
Some people suggest (no way to be factual) that both California and Texas could lose two districts just based on the question. Toss in the exodus of legit citizens from California, and there even be a third district gone. Same issue brewing for NY. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Georgia lost a district because because of the question, but regained the district because of legit Americans moving into the state over the past decade.
The more likely number, considering how the popular vote has gone for decades now.
I think CA would lose more than two or three. I think 5 to 6 is more likely. Same with New York. If Florida loses any it will be in the very liberal districts. It would be really interesting to find out.
So only one third of voters are wetbacks?
“Boycott the Census if you live in a Democrat run state” is one prevalent meme making the rounds. Counterbalance illegals being counted as citizens seems to be the general idea.
But Whitney little wimps and Justice Roberts says no. So there!
Count only citizens.
JoMa
The rats are all about investigating foreign interference by Russia in the 2016 election but are hell-bent on having illegal aliens voting! Beyond belief!
