Heather Nauert out: White House press secretary hopeful no longer in contention
Washington Examiner ^ | June 19, 2019

Heather Nauert, the former State Department spokeswoman, has said she is no longer interested in replacing Sarah Sanders as White House press secretary, the Washington Examiner has learned.

Nauert, 49, left her previous Washington role in April after nearly two years living apart from her husband and two sons, who remained in New York when she joined the Trump administration in 2017.

The former "Fox & Friends" co-host was reported to be among four top contenders considered by President Trump in the aftermath of Sanders' Thursday departure announcement. The Washington Examiner reported Monday that Stephanie Grisham, 42, had emerged as the favorite.

I can’t think of a worse, more thankless job. We were lucky to have Huckabee Sanders as long as we did.

She's too nice for that job. We need a pit bull. Sarah was great.

They need somebody who thrives on slapping down faggots like Jim Acosta.

I don’t see why we even have such a job. Or why we have a White House Press Corps. I say abolish the job, abolish their perks, and let them struggle for a story the old fashioned way.

I don’t think she is nice at all. Here is my comment from another thread posted a few days ago:

“A couple of years ago, when Heather Nauert was holding a State Department press briefing, a reporter asked her to comment on a “Dr. Sebastian Gorka” comment. She responded with such a disrespectful, snarky comment about Gorka. Her face could not hide her sneering, utter repulsion for him. It was at that moment that I decided I would never again watch little “Miss Perfect” Heather.

I nominate Tammy Bruce. She is hard as nails and says what needs to be said clearly and succinctly, no bullsh*t.”

I like Heather a lot, but the media would destroy her. I’m not saying she is not a strong woman, I’m merely saying this job requires a warrior spirit.

I’d like to see TX Lt Gov Dan Patrick as WH Press Secretary.

Agree, this job is a lot more like zookeeper than communications expert. Whip and chair.

Nuart was not a “hopeful”. Where did WJ get that?

Her nuclear family has always been in NYC. She was fabulous at State, but had to move out and live in DC. How long was that going to work? Mostly, the flak she took for using a Mexican maid some time ago was a straw too much.

She was very good with the media hounds, but her State bunch were a group much smaller in number than in Sarah’s briefings and half as vicious.

I loved classy and articulate Heather and preferred her at the WH. I’ll always wonder how her presence as briefing chief, there, might have gone.
Sarah gave nothing meaningful of WH news, so the briefing was a black hole immediately absorbed by combative questions, rather than ruled by Sarah giving news worthy information and framing it her way.

It was the dumbest hour on TV, but like most train wrecks, it got views and coverage regularly.

I think so, too. And *I* definitely would qualify for the job based on just that criterion, but I think the best combination of traits for the job would be someone who thrives on slapping them down but is also a super fast thinker and knows economic arguments very, very well and can intimidate them by talking fast and coherently. I think that person would have to be a lot like Anthony Scaramucci.
