Marc Thiessen: Trump's Mexico strategy worked.
The Virginian-Pilot ^ | January 14, 2019 | Marc A. Thiessen, The Washington Post

PRESIDENT TRUMP'S detractors are trying to play down the significance of the U.S.-Mexico immigration deal, saying it is largely comprised of actions that Mexico had already agreed to many months ago.

Nice try. If Mexico had truly agreed to implement many of these measures in December, then why had they not been implemented six months later? As even Mexican officials acknowledge, it was Trump's threat of tariffs that forced Mexico's hand. In announcing the deal, a relieved Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said the "most important thing is that they didn't apply tariffs and we didn't experience an economic slowdown." The fact is, Trump bucked Republicans on Capitol Hill and even many of his own advisers, and used the threat of tariffs to get Mexico to act — and it worked.

The measures Mexico has promised to avoid those tariffs include the deployment of 6,000 national guard forces at Mexico's largely unguarded border with Guatemala, which — according to Mexican negotiating documents — will be "the first time in recent history that Mexico has decided to take operational control of its southern border as a priority."

Mexico also agreed to carry out thousands more arrests of illegal migrants each week and to remove the caps it imposed on the number of U.S. asylum seekers it would accept and hold inside Mexico. Until now, Mexico had been accepting a maximum of 300 people a day from the United States. Trump rightly said that was not good enough at a time when more than 4,600 migrants were apprehended crossing the border each day in May.

Trump found that magic wand that Obama said didn’t exist.

The point is, that situations like illegal immigration exist because government wants them to exist.

Oh, and remember when Obama said of “drill, baby, drill” it would be years before that worked? Well, only two years have gone by and events in the Gulf that would have spiked gas lines caused a measly $3 rise in oil prices. That’s because free enterprise drilled and the US is energy independent. That means we don’t have to get involved in foreign wars.

Mexico doesn’t have the cuddly laws the US does about “conditions in a detention camp”. Tent cities are perfectly OK. The US should donate a bunch of Army surplus tents, tent kitchens, tent latrines, etc. just to be nice.

Still need to implement The List for proper immigration enforcement - The list goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population)
7) demonstrate English proficiency to acquire citizenship and pass civics test.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport.

Also consider reciprocation of the laws of the countries of origin of the illegal aliens. For example, Mexico doesn’t allow land ownership or voting to immigrants, and doesn’t honor birthright citizenship like its citizens expect from the U.S. We should offer the same deal to them.

...Mexico had been accepting a maximum of 300 people a day from the United States.

They would 'accept' ALL of them if we REALLY defended our border from invasion!

*New Immigration Laws*    (Be sure to read to the bottom or you will miss the message)

1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools.

2. All ballots will be in this nation's language.

3. All government business will be conducted in our language.

4. Non-residents will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.

5. Non-citizens will NEVER be able to hold political office.

6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or any other government assistance programs. Any who are a burden will be deported.

7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount at least equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

8. If foreigners come here and buy land, their options will be restricted. Certain parcels including waterfront property are reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

9. Foreigners may have NO protests; NO demonstrations, NO waving of a foreign flag, no political organizing, NO bad-mouthing our president or his policies. These will lead to deportation.

10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be actively hunted and, when caught, sent to jail until your deportation can be arranged. All assets will be taken from you.

Too strict?  The above laws are the current immigration laws of MEXICO!

A Mexican (gag) offcial Porfirio Munoz Ledo, (cough) knowledgeable about US foreign policy said:
"US territory is large enough to hold triple its current migrant population and can accommodate another century of immigration."

TRANSLATION: "Not enough of us latinos are billionaires, yet, from US tax dollar remittances."
