‘Sick and tired’: Philippine Pres. Duterte regrets presidential run

President Rodrigo Duterte is “sick and tired of the system” and regrets having run for the nation’s top post, given the Philippines’ seemingly insurmountable problems.

“I lost my enthusiasm to work. Actually, I deeply regretted it. I regretted my decision to run for president,” Duterte said in the vernacular on Wednesday during the oath-taking of Cagayan de Oro’s newly elected local government officials.

The decision to run for president in 2016, the former Davao City mayor claimed, was spurred by his not having lost an election.

“[S]ince 1988, I was rising until I became President of this republic. But if you ask me if I’m happy now, I won’t lie. Why would I? I do not have any obligation to you to lie, to tell a lie. I’m sick and tired of the system,” he said.

Duterte again warned daughter Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio, currently Davao City mayor and rumored to be interested in a 2022 run for the president, from following his footsteps.

“That is why when people speculated Inday… [would] run for president, I told her, ‘Don’t do it, ‘Day. You will not be able to control it. They will disrespect you, those sons of bitches,’” the President advised his daughter anew.

Earlier this year, Duterte-Carpio said she still had to make up her mind.

I like Duterte, he’s probably the closest thing to an honest man who has ever been President in the Philippines.

I head to the RP twice a year. We have an office there. Their congressmen and senators are more corrupt than Dems here. I’m not making that up. The senators are mostly celebrities/working actors who moonlight as senators when they dont have TV shows or movies.

Im sure Trump feels the same way. He needs to be emperor to get the job done here.

The problem with Duterte is he actually wants to solve his nation’s problems. Otherwise he could “feel no ways tired”.

Duterte was pushed into the run and Presidency.

He didn't want the job in the beginning and refused to run for some months.

I personally think he's been a remarkable President and influence on the Philippine people and his departure at the end of his term will leave a dangerous void in Philippine, and Asian politics.

The man is, if nothing else, brutaslly honest and I SO hoped he and Trump could connect somehow.

...and supply him with a fleet of helicopters at had cargo doors that would open up when the hilo reached 500 feet elevation.

We could have drained the swamp four one-way passenger tickets at a time

He is a Chinese Communist bootlicker. But some here support the Communist Chinese.

Tens to hundreds of thousands of illegal Chinese workers in the Philippines, Boracay Island and others are for pleasurement of Communist Chinese with other foreigners and Filipinos effectively banned, Chinese signage up all over the place, shit Chinese electronics now dominate the market there... China controls fishing in Philippines territory so much that the Philippines has to actually import fish...
