Denial is more than a river in Egypt. There were Jews who kept themselves alive by working in those camps. These workers would tell new Jews that they were not showers and they would be gassed. They laughed it off and entered willingly. Saying the Germans would never do that. Some people just want to believe that evil does not exist.

Sometimes you have to form alliances with people you don’t like and then kick them to the ground once the mutual goal is achieved. Sort of like Patton wanting to invade Russia after WWII.
The French Revolution was a damned disaster. The monarchy was no good, they were better off without it but streets filled with the blood of innocents spilled for years by corrupt, amoral, power hungry maniacs was not the answer.

Virtue without murder is bad. In fact murder IS virtuous. ISIS would agree.
A fact that largely goes unreported is that French Jewish citizens had a 75% survival rate during the War, the highest of any occupied country.
Most of the Jews the French shipped to the death camps were not French citizens, the Germans basically told the Vichy authorities that they would be happy to take the alien problem off their hands, and ship them to “family camps” in the East. In fact the French were so naïve, that they insisted the children go with them, even though the Germans didn’t specifically ask for them.

Is this a trial before a jury? Or just a judge. I might trust a French jury. I would not trust a French judge.
