Republican Lawmakers Refuse to Support Trump or His Voters — Is It Time for a New Party?
GP ^ | June 7,2019 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 06/07/2019 12:15:08 PM PDT by Hojczyk

The Republican Party never much liked Donald Trump or what he represented.

The GOP and establishment conservative groups never much liked Trump’s supporters.

Republicans were fine at cowering behind their desks at the first sign of adversity. They were used to making promises and not following through. They were happy to cede power to a radical fascist left that continues to tear away at the fabric of this great nation.

When Trump won Paul Ryan said he would build a wall. Paul Ryan lied… repeatedly. He never had any intention of building a wall.

Either did Mitch McConnell.

When Trump declared a national emergency at the border 12 Senate Republicans voted against him. TWELVE!

In May GOP senators killed off Trump supporter Steve Moore’s nomination to the Federal Reserve Board.

They said they would not support tariffs on our southern enemy. They won’t support this president.

But the worst abuses are on the US Constitution.

Since 2016 the far left tech giants and radical liberal groups have been eliminating conservative voices online. They are harassing companies to remove advertising from conservative platforms and FOX News shows. Hundreds of conservatives have been affected.

The left is using fascist tactics to rid the internet of conservative voices. And NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO STOP THEM!

No one.

When conservatives were kicked off YouTube or Twitter or Facebook the GOP said nothing and did nothing.

When Trump supporters get their ass kicked by an Antifa mob, Republicans do nothing.

It is clear the Republican Party is AWOL. They are like a shell company. Just a name and nothing else.

Maybe it’s time to think about a new movement? Maybe it’s time to Brexit the GOP?

When people continue to show you who they are, believe them.

Splitting the party won’t work.

We have to primary every GOP legislator that’s not supporting Trump out of office.

We also need a sea change in party leadership at the state and local levels so that we quit getting RINO’s presented to the voters.

Here's the basic problem with starting a third party:

The political process has already developed into a two-party system because most elections are naturally oriented to it.

Here's a perfect example: In a presidential election, all states operate under a "plurality winner" system where the winning candidate for the state (or for the individual House districts, in the case of Maine and Nebraska) is the one who gets the most votes -- even if the winning candidate doesn't get a majority of the votes. In this scenario, third-party candidates usually do nothing except split the vote for one side or the other. That's how you end up with some nitwit winning an election with less than 40% of the vote.

Unless you get to the point where a third party has enough support to defeat BOTH major parties in these elections (and this is not impossible, as Jesse Ventura showed in Minnesota), then building a third party is a waste of time.

If you want to build a third-party movement, the first thing to do is change election laws on a state-by-state basis so that minority parties have an easier time winning elections at the municipal, county, and state legislative district levels. Then build this up to the point at a regional level where a presidential candidate can actually win individual states and win electoral votes in a presidential election. As Ross Perot showed us, winning 19% of the popular vote and ZERO electoral votes accomplished absolutely nothing.

“...take over the GOP and kick the bastards out....”

I’m in.

By any means necessary at this point.

The wonderful thing about the 2016 Presidential Primary was how we utterly kicked in the teeth of the GOPe establishment! Holding Yeb! to only 4 delegates was a thing of beauty ranking right up there with Reagan’s 49 state juggernaut.
Now if we could only transfer this utter rejection of the GOPe to Congressional Primaries we might actually start Making America Great Again!
I was hoping we would start seeing it in 2018 Primaries. Sadly, we didn’t. Same old RINOs keep winning...

The solution is to fix the GOP, not start all over again with a pathetic, half-assed political movement that goes nowhere.

I quit the GOP a half dozen years ago.
I registered as a Whig.
The Whigs are small but very conservative and mostly veterans.

George Washington was prescient.

Political parties are a menace.

Vote for principle, not party.

Look at New York. They dealt with the liberalization of the GOP by starting a Conservative Party.

That's really great. The Conservative Party never wins anything, and they often just end up endorsing Republican candidates in elections anyway. I don't know a single Conservative Party candidate who has won any election of note in New York.

Is there enough time for the NRA to form a party. At least we would know where they stand on some things.
