Great, governor.

Now rein in civil asset forfeiture laws and get Constitutional Carry passed in the Lone Star State.

With GPS - they don’t need pictures or witnesses - can tell where a vehicle is and which direction and how fast it is moving...eventually the vehicle will get the ticket and the owner will be responsible for the fine - even is some unsavory yute or illegal stole it...

I fought one of these tickets back in about 2008 ... had my ducks in a row and didn’t give the “hearing officer” any slack. I finally played by trump card - the part of the law that allowed a positive defense for the presence of rain or snow .. I asked the officer: “Do you not see the spray from the tires?” It was raining pretty good with the light changed and I wasn’t going to ‘lock them up’ given conditions ...

So how sensitive are those lights? If you're only driving 3 MPH over the speed limit, will you get a ticket?

I remember when we had a nation wide 55 MPH limit. Crossing the Ohio border from Michigan, there was a big sign that said 55 - 60 = $$$, 60 - 65 = $$$, and they meant it.

My dad was a retired Detroit cop and the only speeding ticket he ever got in his life was while driving thru Ohio on his way to Florida. He was caught by a state police airplane that patrolled I-94 from the air......

“Good riddance. I’ve only been stung by one of those cameras once, and that was enough.”

I’ve got a couple of traffic light tickets. It’s been a couple of years as I’ve learned how to game the lights. I guess I’m kinda ambivalent about this with a slight tilt in favor of the lights. The red light fine in my area is $75. This is about the same amount one would pay if a cop should observe someone popping a light and get an old fashioned ticket. Add up the cost of the fine plus defensive driving course if taken so to avoid having the ticket on one’s record and thereby have ins rates increased. Then, have to burn a Saturday taking the defensive driving course is the worst part of the whole process. Personally, I’ll take the red light fine anyday over the old school process. Write a $75 check and be done with it.

I just read that it is $400 in California for the first offense.

Last year I purchased a dash cam that has gps in it, along with a warning for proximity, lane change and Cameras at intersections. It’s pretty cool. I realize that it is a great thing for a parent to put in a child’s car. It warns them when they are being stupid and records their driving. Garmin.
