Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to unite the country on Thursday after a big election win, with his party on course to increase its majority on a mandate of business-friendly policies and a tough stand on national security.
Official data from the Election Commission showed Modis Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead in 300 of the 542 seats being contested, up from the 282 it won in 2014 and more than the 272 seats needed for a majority in the lower house of parliament.
That would give it the first back-to-back majority for a single party since 1984.
Together we will build a strong and inclusive India, Modi said on Twitter.
India wins yet again!

Brazil, India, who is next? Trump has shown the freedom loving people of the world that we can take back our nations if we unite behind the right leaders.
Right, I forgot about Brazil. Another one the “experts” can’t figure out.
People are waking up to the marxist muslim coalition’s progress and they don’t want it??????
Don’t forget Bebe in Israel. Another fake news polling by the Libs that was totally Wrongo!
815 million eligible voters in India - that’s a stunning number for a Democracy to keep track of.
Everyone, except for the Deplorables, are surprised
Hopefully, Canada too, on Monday, October 21, 2019, though Tranna, with so many ridings, MAY keep the Socialist Pretty Pony Justine, in power. One can only hope that their brains kick in soon!
Probably not so specific. The “right way” of doing things has obviously been failing miserably all around the globe. Time to do something different. If our moral/intellectual superiors, our self-appointed ruling class, are always wrong and making everything worse, then what good are they?
Dude, go read the jackal’s, (AKA Illich Ramirez Sanchez) writings.
He vocalized an old thought of his peers, the the west could not be taken down by islam by itself nor marxism by itself..... but yes, an alliance could.
This thinking is what gave Barack to America.
Yes, there is a war going on and it almost succeeded!
AND it is still on,
people need to rise above this
His speech was a thing of beauty. He said the secularism is a dead horse. He also said that there are two types of Indians. Those that are poor who want to be rich, and the rich who want to help the poor. Nothing else matters.
Modi made three promises to the people, he said he’d “never to do anything with “ill intention”, “never do anything to make a personal fortune” and “every pore, every cell in my body will work non-stop to ensure that the country keeps moving forward”.
Targeting the caste-based politics practiced in large swathes of the country, he said, “There are only two castes left. These are... the poor. The second - those who remove poverty”.”
There are a whole lot of poor
People on this forum have not a clue the life the average Indian citizen lives
I have seen people on the street literally starving to death or dying from disease untended to
This was the 1980s
Today folks think its all Bollywood and cheery Patels behind the counter at every Sleep Inn or Independent gas station
That not indicative of the India I saw in Delhi and Bombay and Goa mid 80s
The disparity was the greatest of anywhere I traveled which was everywhere except the iron curtain
Haiti was maybe worse but had less disparity
Maybe India has changed or does it just have more rich people than before
Modi will unite India by putting Hindus first. Muslims and others will have to take a back seat.
That’s how Modi won such a decisive victory, through a populist approach.
After a recent attack by Pakistani terrprists in the Northwest, where 21 Indian police, men were killed, Modi reponded with the air force, bombing terrorist training camps inside Iran. Thats a first.
Modi will not be business as usual. You play, you pay. Even China, Pakistan’s closest ally, was caught off guard.
The new “Allies” when WWIII happens - because I believe this war against the left is no longer an internal U.S. struggle. Leftist philosophies (if you want to call their insane ravings that) have infected much of the globe.
