FULL TITLE: Alabama passes near-total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest: 25 to 6 vote becomes most restrictive anti-abortion measure passed since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973

Alabama lawmakers passed a bill on Tuesday banning nearly all abortions, including those in rape and incest cases.

The 25 to six vote makes it the most restrictive anti-abortion measure passed since the landmark Roe v. Wade case in 1973, which ruled that depriving women of the right to an abortion except to save the mother's life was unconstitutional.

Under the Alabama bill, the only exceptions are to safeguard the health of the mother, while doctors could face 10 years in prison for attempting an abortion and 99 years for actually carrying out the procedure.

It’s a child. You’ve bought the propaganda hook line and sinker if you make an exception.

the only reason to come here is if you are pro life? BTW I am pro life. But people are entitled to their beliefs, even if they are not your beliefs.

A: When any non-govt entity has eliminated another from the govt-sanctioned, economic slavery ala work-force\tax-paying; neither before (abortion) nor after (Death Panels).

FR is a conservative website that is staunchly pro-life. People can be free to have their opinions but we all expect pushback from others when vast disagreements arise.

When and if you become a liberal.

You’d allow someone to kill a child? Even advocate for it?

You REALLY need to rethink your logic and not let worldly emotion control your higher thinking.

Here’s a hypothetical: would you be okay with the government forcing your daughter to carry your brother’s child?

“You’d force a girl to give birth to a half-sibling, half-daughter?”

Is your concern the risk of a birth defect? The chance of a birth defect is still low, assuming the girl is young. In fact, the risk of a birth defect is somewhat higher for a non-incestuous woman over 40 than it is for an incestuous woman under 20.

If your concern is social stigma, as with a pregnancy resulting from rape, then of course, the innocent baby should not be aborted. If the woman chooses not to raise the child she should put it up for adoption.

Many on FB are saying “WE WON’T HAVE SEX IF THERE IS A RISK FOR US BECOMING PREGNANT!”

I responded “GODD! You blooming idiot that looks like a loose meat sandwich, that is the bloody POINT! Sex causes babies. Don’t do it unless you expect it!”

My wife is lot less nice about it.

Funny thing. She is a teacher. Many high school kids are not having sex and are pro life. She says it is because they have seen the wreckage of their parent’s life, and have no desire to repeat it.

we should outlaw intercourse next! That is never going to happen. People have sex. and should use birth control if they don’t want a baby. That’s men, also. Condoms are not evil (although I did read that here, on FR)

“why allow for incest as the child may be impaired.”

I believe that impairment isn’t an issue unless the inbreeding happens consecutively for three generations. Then you may have problems. (Just what I’ve heard. Don’t know for sure.)

In pagan Rome, a girl child was often exposed to death.

The barbarians to the north (my crazy ancestors) would raise the girls.

In many civilizations, people view children as resource wasters. In barbarian cultures, they are often viewed as worthy.

If this culture today is civilization, I will be the barbarian.

You would force a woman to relive that five minutes every day for the rest of her life with the product of that rape? Not everybody has the will to overcome that. What would that do to the person's psyche?

So killing the innocent life will make her forget it?

My neighbor as a kid adopted two children. The boy was a product of rape.

He is the kindest person I have ever met. So much so I have seen people take advantage of him.

He has learned to not tell his story about his brave birth mother. One person told his wife “Your husband is horrible for the pain he represents to his mother!”

His wife is not nice. The conversation was epic at that point.

Do not kill the innocent to hide the crimes of the guilty

25 to 6 vote...

Twenty-five white men. The left is already making hay on that.

25 white men who represent the men and women of the state - or don’t you get that? You worry too much about what the left thinks and says.

I'm thinking of the optics and the Alabama Senate seat up in 2020. For God's sake, Pat freakin' Robertson came out against it. You don't think that's not going to wind up on a Jones campaign commercial? I'm thinking of 2020 and the Presidency, and all those independents in Pennsylvania and Michigan and Wisconsin and Iowa that Trump is going to need to get reelected. You don't think the Democrats aren't going to hang this around his neck? Even the ones who oppose abortion tend not to oppose it for rape, incest, life of the mother, and fetal viability.

It could be some of those votes were made knowing a bill going this far is likely to be overturned. That way they can keep campaigning on the issue without having to take the risks of an implemented law. The GOP has been doing this for more than 40 years on Roe v. Wade knowing change would be difficult.

No, it prevents incredible stigma from beating down on the woman.
