If the people are supportive of President Trump, I wouldn’t care if the candidate is a gay black who believes that UFOs exist. I want the best candidate available.
It’s a hard slog to recruit anyone to go into politics unless he’s really into politics or independently wealthy. What kind of person takes a year out of his life to campaign for basically a temp job where, if he wins, he has to leave his career track *and* move to DC, a really expensive city? Why is it a temp job? Because an election loss sends him back home. Whereas 99% of jobs aren’t anywhere near this transient. And with most jobs, you never have to step off your career track. Then there’s the intrusive media questions that no non-politician who’s not a murder suspect ever has to deal with.

agree...I am SOOOO tired of catering to women (and I am one) and minorities and everything else....why can we not just get a person who believes the constitution, someone who believes in America first before we try to solve all the problems of everyone else, someone who is honest and good... a person with integrity. Why do we have to look at color, race, gender first when determining who to run?
House and Senate races are not limited to natural born Americans. Quality naturalized Americans who love this country should not be stopped and legally can’t be prevented from running.
It blunts it a lot if not completely at the local and state office level from what I’ve seen. It also gets the lefties going at each other. National level is another story entirely.
Because the media will cheerfully rip white males apart with charges of racism while not realizing the hypocrisy.
I would also point out that in this current environment, we need to look at those elements TO WIN in many states. We have a choice of maximum ideological purity or winning. We have to win in order to roll back leftism. Which do you want?
A guy by the name of John james ran in Michigan and lost. I was impressed with him and think he should run again.
Our form of public service is intensely attractive to narcissistic sociopaths and repellent to normal people. So we get what the system attracts.
