Barrels of Ammunition XM855

-In a recent article on AmmoLand News, a case was presented as to why stockpiling of more than a few hundred rounds of ammunition was unnecessary.

It was an interesting take, but much too limited, in my experience. In the end, the authors put in a disclaimer: stockpile as much as you want.

The self-imposed limitations of the presentation were this: They only considered four reasons to stockpile ammunition. They limited the scenarios applicable to those reasons.

Here is a quick critique of the four reasons they listed not to stockpile ammunition:

It is hard to have to much ammunition. If you think you have too much, sell or trade some of it.

Unless the floorboards are creaking you don’t have enough. The stuff keeps forever if properly stored.

Nobody ever finished a fire fight and said, “I should have had less ammo.”

I buy ammunition in bulk because it is much cheaper that way (generally about 1000 rounds per caliber at a time, but whatever the price point is), and use that until it is close to running out. Then I buy more. I’m a target shooter. It’s fun.

A good place to buy ammo in bulk online is https://www.luckygunner.com/

Unless you’re a reloader, having lots of ammo is a necessity.

I’m betting on a EMP attack as the most likely scenario. It’s going to get hairy. Fast.

If this country goes into a civil war, there will never be enough of anything, ammo included.

Amateurs talk tactics and strategies.

Professionals talk logistics.

I buy components in bulk. I roll my own. High quality. Built with my particular toys in mind.

Never store it all in one place too...

Have multiple caches even some on the edge of property well hidden in case you are driven from your land you can sneak back to your border and retrieve it under cover of night.

Prepper ping- Ammo (Why You Can Never Have Too Much )

Lurker : Unless the floorboards are creaking you don’t have enough.
The stuff keeps forever if properly stored."

(from the article):"Here is a quick critique of the four reasons they listed not to stockpile ammunition:
1. Self-Defense
2. Hunting
3. Militia actions
4. Ammo barter "

The time to prepare is when there is no need,
which means that the time is now,
before the need, and while the price is cheap.

PREPPER RULE : when one is none, when two is one, where three is two, etc., etc.
(always have a back-up plan, anticipate - don't be forced to react !).
Know how to storage food, water, ammo, and survivor supplies for uncertain times; learn it now.
If you can't defend it, it's not yours(!)
Appropriate sealing, desiccants, oxygen absorbers, vapor locks, and non-degradable containers, is a learning experience.
Ignoring the talents and skills of our forefathers leads to reliance on others;
prepping is a self-reliant skill,
and a life style for independence (!).

You are probably right. I only compare LG prices to gun stores. I don’t mind paying shipping.

Personally, I only refer to my ammo supply by the case... So when asked how much ammo myself, my children, and my grandchildren (the only amount of significance to me) have, I usually say about 15 or 16.

In the 1990's, that was an initial investment (at Harrisburg, PA gun shows) of about $1200 (Including mags and other accessories)... Sort of like a "life assurance" policy...

It was also like a "strength-building" policy... Around 1994 I would wheel them out to the van on a cart, 2 or 3 at a time... By 1999 I would carry them out to the van two-at-a-time, one on each shoulder...

Now, at 85, I can only carry about 5 loaded 30-rnd mags...{:-(

LG is a good source. As is Target Sports USA. Their Prime Ammo membership at $95/year is an unbeatable deal. Name brand ammo discounted for you.

I believed the 97% chance the bitch was going to win couldn’t be completely wrong. I will never need to buy more ammo in my lifetime. My children and grandchildren should be good as well.
