Full title: Andrew McCarthy: Politics is front and center for Russiagate probe -- and the farce has reached new heights

Politics is front and center for the Russiagate probe, which has reached previously unknown heights of farce – and that’s saying something.

This week saw the spectacle of the House Judiciary Committee holding the attorney general of the United States in contempt for withholding Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report … notwithstanding that the report was actually provided to lawmakers.

Desperate to project the illusion of cover-up in the utter absence of cover-up, Democrats proceeded against the attorney general even though (a) Barr did not owe Congress a single comma in the report because federal law calls for it to be confidential (i.e., between the prosecutor investigating the case and his supervisor, the attorney general); (b) Barr nevertheless gave Congress about 95 percent of the report; (c) congressional Democrats did not avail themselves of the opportunity to read other unredacted portions to which he gave access; (d) all of the unsavory information about President Trump – i.e., the stuff in the report that Democrats truly care about – has been disclosed; and (e) Barr only withheld grand jury information which it would be illegal to disclose – meaning: Democrats put the AG to the untenable choice of violating the law or being held in contempt.

Oh, and about that grand jury secrecy rule … it is Congress’s own law...

Good point.

Schumer’s an idiot but he’s not dumb, I believe he knows this farce is coming back to bite them.

Does anybody still believe that the purpose of the Democrat Party is to find and elect people who will get the most efficient and effective use out of every hard earned taxpayer dollar?

Anybody?

Then, why are people voting for them?

Yep, the vast majority of Democrats pursue priorities exactly contrary to our Founding Fathers intentions when establishing our Constitutional Republic.

It’s a shame their voters support such tyrants.

He probably looked at that photo and realized the Trump administration used it to get a FISA warrant on him.

I don’t either, he’s too intelligent to be connected to them and should disassociate himself from them.

Serious answer?

The party pre-select candidates to fit a particular district. If they do not already fit, they are groomed to be in the image that polls, focus groups and research tell the Democrats what the voters (in that district want to hear).

Once they reach Congress they are told what to do. They are assigned a Chief of Staff (DNC approved) and a office manager both of whom actually run the office. Any bill that they may propose comes from either the party bosses or a lobbyist.

As long as the Congress critter plays ball, they have a job for life.

You will notice it is usually those that have a safe district that make most of the outrageous noise. This is by design. Sort of a designated “hitter”. So the party base gets some red meat and the party leaders can appear to be moderate.

Some of this has gotten out of control for the Democrats and so don’t expect to see much support for the people like AOC at the next election.

So what is the point of all this? Easy, Congress rules make it a numbers game.

How many “D” and how many “R” determine which party is in charge. Individual congresscritter do not really matter, only those with seniority get to play.

Oh this is true for both parties.

So, people vote for Democrats because they are Republicans?

I’m so confused!

"Schulmer's awful quiet these days...wonder where he is?"

Caught up with advance planning for a democrat party in exile.

No, they vote for people who tell them what they want to hear. Republicans and Democrats both follow the same playbook to get elected. I sometimes think it is just a game to them.

I asked why people vote for Democrat politicians.

Your reply was about how Democrat politicians act once they are elected.

Then, at the end of your post, you say that the Republican politicians behave the same way.

You didn’t answer my question.

You wrote about something completely different and then took a shot at the Republicans.

There’s nothing wrong with not posting an answer if you don’t really know the answer.

Last I heard from Schumer he wisely backed President Trump for smacking China with the 25% tariffs! In fact, Schumer made a small speech about it from the Senate floor.

People vote for a variety of reasons, but mostly for their own self interests.

Some or many, vote "party loyalty."

Others, like the lifelong welfare queens, vote Democrat.

The same goes for several groups of "minorities;" African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Muslim-Americans, illegals, non-English speaking Hispanic-Americans, Lesbian, Homosexuals & Transgenders, etc.

Thanks...It’s surprising to me Schumer would back anything President Trump does.
