...the deficit will stay above $1 trillion for four straight years before starting to decline for the rest of the decade.

A declining deficit is always 5 years away.

Totally unexpected! Conservative policies improve the economy—without even a magic wand? Who would’ve thunk it?

Doesn’t the House remind us continuously that it is they who hold the purse? Why would this be Trump’s fault when he can’t even get them to fund the things they already approved (i.e., the border)?

So, we have record tax collections, near record high employment, near record low interest rates, and no shooting wars, and we are going to run a $1.1 trillion deficit?

And this is good news?

Bottom Line....

When you’re broke, nothing else matters!

Oh Lord, trillion dollar deficits for FIVE YEARS?? You can bet the Democrats will make this a huge issue during the election. Both parties are responsible for this catastrophe. Neither one wants to make the hard decisions. There will come a time when there will be no choice. You cannot maintain massive entitlements and a massive military at the same time. One or the other will have to be cut. And if the Democrats create a massive new entitlement program with Medicaid or whatever else they come up with, that will only hasten the inevitable. It is either start reducing and cutting or fall into governmental default. That choice now looks like the only solution for these cowards in Congress and the ignorant American population.

I think their definition of “surplus” is different from mine.

It’s impossible to get elected on a cut spending platform.

It’s impossible to build new high voltage transmission lines, where none exist.

It’s impossible to cure sexual perversion, and other mental illness.

Some things are plainly impossible, unless there’s fear.

Pass a law saying “the government will only fund education where a significant long-term improvement of skills and knowledge can be demonstrated and will only fund health care that adds at least three months to life expectancy or significantly reduces the burden from a disability.” That would knock out most education spending and about half of health care spending.

Great job? With a trillion dollar deficit? I assume you left off the sarcasm tag.

1. The deficit will never decline nor will the debt.
2. Politicians will piss away or steal any surplus.

Trump is doing a great job on most fronts but is but a speed bump on the downhill road to ruin.

April is always a surplus month because of all the tax $ mailed in on the 15th.

A $1.1 trillion deficit is a great job? Did you forget the </sarcasm> tag?

Wait until the tariff money rolls in. The deficit will continue to be held in check.

Dismantle the 80%+ unconstitutional portion of the feds, and your surplus will drive taxes down to where they should be: 10% flat.

- Wealth once again to the average working American citizen, not to corrupt government bureaucrats and officials.

- Individual Freedom and the wealth-creating free-market economy once again running the show.

- America’s Free Constitutional Republic restored!

The government recorded a surplus but there a big deficit. Note to author of article: are you writing for economists only? or do you want normal people to read your article? Define your terms!

Surplus and deficit appear to be opposites. They aren’t. splain, please!
