Five climate-change bills signed Tuesday by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will mandate renewable power, subsidize electric vehicles, require buildings to be remodeled and dictate how energy air compressors, generators and other appliances use.
Inslee, a Democratic candidate for president who has made global warming the focus of his campaign, signed the bills at a park in Seattle. The package will put Washington at the forefront of defeating climate change, he said.
"Let the word go forth, from this time and place, that from today forward, Washington state is leading in the effort to defeat climate change," Inslee said.
The bill signings capped a 2019 legislative session that saw the Democratic-controlled House and Senate pass legislation to cut greenhouse gases. The bills received little support from Republicans, who warned that the package will intrude on individuals and do nothing to influence the climate.
Democrats introduced legislation in step with the aspirations of the Green New Deal, which Inslee has endorsed. Several major proposals that would have advanced the goal of eliminating fossil fuels from the economy failed.

“Let the word go forth, from this time and place, that from today forward...I am the biggest #### in the country.”
Let the word go forth.......sheesh, can Inslee get anymore pretensious?
What would he do if Mt Ranier erupted? Which it eventually will.
I see a lot of companies moving to Idaho. The tech ones will do it quietly to avoid bad press.
Already successful, Greenland glaciers growing again, world atmospheric temperatures on the decline, more snow in northern hemisphere this last winter (as measured by satellite) since 1982 when measuring began. The Eddy Minimum is upon us. It is going to get cold folks.
“Let the word go forth, from this time and place, that from today forward...”
He sound’s like Moses. Although I’m guessing he has no idea who that is. Inslee is such a loser.
I was thinking the same thing lol
If Moses wasn’t a great man and instead a moron of no consequence, then there would be MUCH more resemblance.
Y’all in Washington State are so screwed.
5.56mm
Or Yellowstone.
The balls anyone has to have to think what we do is responsible for major environment changes.
MR SUN IS THE THING THAT DRIVES EARTHS CLIMATE.
This is all about driving out the middle class so the elites can have the state to themselves and be exempt from any of these envirowacko laws.
Pretty Week!! The Republicans if there are any, should get a Ballot initiative Mandating that NO FOSSIL FUELS be Used in ANY Property owned, rented, leased or occupied by ANY Government Agency, and require ALL Public Employee’s and Public Servants to use Non Fossil Fuel Transportation to and from their respective workplace.
Poor Idaho. It seems many of our red states are turning purple. I know Idaho is not yet, the the trend everywhere is not good.
How does the economic impact of all this wonderful innovative progressive thinking going to affect the citizens of your state, Governor Inslee?
Another vast project started out with half-vast ideas. There is no way you or anybody is going to get to this ultimate objective in the time frame you have set, regardless of the expenditure involved, because the technology does not exist and cannot be created by simply making a decree.
So now Washington state has governing how air compressors are to be used.
What? No laws regulating unicorns, or rainbows, or phases of the moon? Come on, Gov. Inslee. Step it up a bit.
Jerry Brown always ran his campaigns against a non existent rich, greedy straw man. This guy Inslee is running his campaign against something totally non existent. I guess it’s a Democrat thing.
Washington state was a nice place to grow up several decades ago.
“Let the word go forth, from this time and place, that from today forward, Washington state is leading in the effort to defeat climate change,” Inslee said.
Not a little full of himself is he.
Let the word go forth, from this time and place, that from today forward...
He sounds like Moses.
