Two Stories that I will post links to given the amount of Websites that have Shunned FR. Futher comments in the Body section, here are the links:
There is a difference between provable reserves and reality across all other locations.
It just means we need to test more ground for components.
We have LI in NC, AR and CA aka Salton Sea like you read about. Hints of possible self sufficient supply chain by 2022? Wow...
Yes we do. I can’t find the article, I believe an Open pit min e has been given a permit in NC for LI extraction.
Your list is incomplete:
LI isn’t the issue. Cobalt is the game breaker.
Due your own Due Diligence, processes are being developed to extract Li-Ion from the water being used in Fracking as it is being picked up after it is pumped out.
The price of lithium is predicted to go down 50% over the next three years. Lithium is abundant in the Earth’s crust and thanks to capitalism there will be many new producers.
Been there, done that?
This mine was reopened after the last REE supply squeeze by the Chinese (2010?). $200MM invested, now Chinese owned!
How many mines are stops on the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative ??
The American investors have nice watches, the Chinese have the time.
Might be a pattern here.
The big growth is coming in nickel and cobalt as the next generation batteries will favor these over lithium. There is plenty of both metals in north america.
I have not heard of a Nickel or Cobalt battery in a while aka the Nickel Metal Hydride since Dr Ovemshinski stuck one in a GM EV1 and took the range to 170 miles + and I think one iteration to 200+ and pissed the hell out of GM.
So many ingredients so little time, I have lost track of them all, the most recent is Vanadium as a replacement for Cobalt. All the Solid-State players etc etc. Do you have a link to a pure Nickel/Cobalt battery? thanks in advance!
Moonman, there are those in the Twittersphere that are already pontificating there will never be "Peak Lithium", I think you are spot on, other sources and extraction methods that we cannot even dream of will become a reality. It will be fun to watch if the good L-rd blesses us w/ enough time to see it.
here’s a google search for nickel cobalt batteries set to results for just the last year
