Did they reopen the CVS store looted and burned during the Freddie Gray riots? I can imagine that store’s performance wasn’t the best.

“Drug store chain CVS is closing 46 locations, including three stores in Alabama.”

Shouldn’t have stopped selling tobacco like Prick’s stopped selling guns. Bad business decisions.

The one in Montgomery is in a high crime area and probably had higher than normal shoplifting rates.

"Underperforming" or robbed, looted and vandalized too often?

Too much mobile stock, I’d say.

People can argue about the ethics of this all day long, but it is their choice and it is not the same as a legal ban on tobacco. I’d think that a choice to be openly tobacco free would end in some inner city stores closing, while others would open in wealthier areas.

That kind of activity hurts their bottom line too.

I’ve never darkened their doorway, so not a big impact on me.

Stopping the sale of cigarettes certainly did not help their bottom line.

I read that as well... maybe my math isn’t very good but it seems like 40 is significantly less than 1% of 9000.

CVS is my go-to pharmacy, so I took a look at the closures in my state.

California

- Antioch: 3130 Buchanan Rd

- San Francisco: 1285 A Sutter St

- San Francisco: 995 Market St

- Sun Valley: 9375 San Fernando Rd

The one closest to me is he one in Sun Valley.

I suspect that one is closing because it’s in the midst of a large population of illegal aliens.

I don’t frequent that area much, so I may be off base there. As a general rule, the San Fernando Valley has drifted from White Middle Class, to mostly Hispanic and poorer Hispanic at that. It’s not hard to see an illegal alien component to that.

The store wasn’t making enough margins, so it is closing.

Makes me wonder about the San Francisco locations. As expensive as that place is to live these days, it would be hard to see that being true.

It will push their profile into more affluent areas, where fewer people smoke.

The three in Minnesota are in areas where whitey doesn’t want to go to.

Judging on some of the addresses I see and know the vicinities, I suspect most of these closures are in “Freddie Grays”

Like a virus . . .HOOO . . infectin for the very first time
