There are more than 30 hospital-based violence intervention and prevention programs throughout the country that mainly target high-risk individuals who have already been injured and connect them with resources, but one systems anti-violence effort stands out.
Kaiser Permanente is investing $2 million toward identifying best practices for clinicians to help prevent injuries and death from guns for up to five research projects, a year-old effort co-led by Dr. David Grossman, senior investigator at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle.
He said the effort to research gun violence has gained considerable momentum over the past year aside from National Institutes of Health funding. Last October Kaiser along with the American Hospital Association took part in a two-day workshop held by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine on interventions health systems could implement to prevent firearm death and injury, with stakeholders exchanging ideas on strategies.

There wont BE any Kaiser-Permanente after Bernie Sanders utterly destroys them! In a Socialist state, the board members will be charged, prosecuted, and hanged by a kangaroo-court ordered by the new Commissar of Confiscation from the Ministry of Morality.
My Kaiser folks always ask me if I feel threatened at home? By law, they have to ask. Too bad our local representatives don’t do the same.
I’ve never been asked that by them.
If you want to stay alive, stay away from Kaiser.
I am asked the same question, as you say it’s by law. I do not see how it could be to anyone’s advantage to say “yes”, if one actually feels threatened. There have been two occasions where someone has threatened my life. In both cases I reported this to what I feel are the proper authorities.
My point is, just what good can become of telling a health professional?
“...Kaiser Permanente is investing $2 million toward identifying best practices for clinicians to help prevent injuries and death from guns...”
I can solve that problem, real quick, Kaiser:
1. Keep your F***ing Finger OFF the F***ing Trigger.
2. Ban democrats from EVER owning guns.
3. See 1 and 2 above.
“...took part in a two-day workshop held by the National Academies of Sciences...”
A two-day WORKSHOP, you say? Well, I’m CERTAIN that they’ve solved ALL of the ‘gun violence’ issues then and we can all sleep peacefully in our beds tonight and from here on in!
*SPIT*
Here’s an idea! STOP letting the CRAZIES out of the Insane Asylums lest we ‘hurt their widdow feewings.’ LISTEN to FAMILY MEMBERS when they TELL Law Enforcement that they have a CRAZY in their family that needs to be watched/disarmed!
And, kick EVERYONE out of America that wishes us harm. Now!
That’s MY Two-Day Workshop. That’ll be $500 bucks a head, which includes your room, a Friday Night Mixer with Salsa & Chips Buffet, all the Power Point Presentations you can STAND and a Continental Breakfast each day!
Oy! These people!

“With the arsenal I have at home? Hell no!”
I do find they are a bit prescription-happy. I do not like pills so this is an irritant. I suspect it is a dodge against malpractice: We prescribed all sorts of stuff, not our problem he croaked.
This study is a gun grabber program .
These monsters always have a left wing agenda .
???
I have never been asked that question. I doubt that it is "required by law" - at least not in this State.
When I see a doctor, I do get consistently asked "do you feel depressed?" in a tone of voice that makes it obvious that they are reading from a required checklist. Some vague positive reassurances are the correct answer to that question.
I go to Kaiser WLA(in Los Angeles) heck all the illegals that have gotten the free health care thanks to Obamacare, I cant even get an appt to see a doctor..have to wait THREE weeks to see one
I was asked it one time, by a pediatrician, back when my son was very young. That would have been in ‘98 or 99.
They never asked again. Must have gotten complaints.
I answered “I don’t talk about things like that.” The doctor let it go.
It has usually been part of a procedure prep process.. after they IV me up and calm me down. I haven’t been asked about having guns at home tho, yet. They do get private these days. Some of it is required , some just gathering internal data for surveys ,
Do you mean that Kaiser should ask me if I feel threatened by my local representatives? In that case, the answer would be HELL YES!
Medical over reach and red flag laws. What next?
Do they print their literature in 30 different languageslike Florida Blue?
Am I paying for an in-house interpreter?
Just tell them there are no Guns at Home.
You keep them all in your Car or on your Person.
My understanding is obamacare requires certain questions, and feeling safe at home is one of them. I was quite annoyed by my doc’s nurse asking this question so I asked, and she said it was an obamacare requirement.
I recently got a physical at a veterans hospital, they asked the same line of questions, then went into a PTSD series. I asked the VA nurse about the PTSD questions, and that was supposedly standard with the VA.
