Conservatives Shouldn’t Use Transgender Pronouns
National Review ^ | April 4, 2019 | Graham Hillard

... the arguments in favor of transgender pronouns — defined here as the incorrect application of “he” and “she” as well as absurd neologisms like “ze” and “zir” — are, in the end, shortsighted. Though compelling on their own limited terms, they fail to take into account that further capitulation where language is concerned can only give aid and comfort to a movement whose success is inevitably attended by the sexualization of children, the sanctioning of brutality, and the dramatic curtailment of freedom of speech and thought.

About the scale of their ambitions, transgender activists have not been shy. “Nuance around gender identity and expression will,” the journalist Liam Lowery wrote in Newsweek four years ago, “improve the quality of life for all people.” “If gender identity is no longer a fixed commodity,” Laurie Penny averred in New Statesman America in 2014, “that affects everybody.” To the surprise of exactly no one who has followed the progress of transgender ideology in this country and elsewhere, the concept of “everybody” is increasingly understood on the left to include even young children. Abetted by the American Academy of Pediatrics’ declaration that most children “have a stable sense of their gender identity” by their fourth birthday, transgender activists in the United States have set about removing any age-based obstacles to that identity’s expression — an effort that peaked with California’s 2018 law providing transgender treatments to minors as young as twelve without requiring parental consent.

Abroad, developments are even worse, ranging in severity from the despicable to the truly nightmarish. As Wesley J. Smith recently reported for NRO, a Canadian 14-year-old was allowed, earlier this year, to proceed with “gender-altering” hormone treatments despite her father’s strenuous objections. In Australia, meanwhile, multiple news reports declare that, [in] 2016, a [4yo] the process of “transitioning.”

When addressing a congressional 1 I call them CRITTERS. How do you tell the difference? Make they wear T shirts with their gender on it so we can make sure which gender we are addressing. I sure can’t tell most of them apart. Maybe every one on the Left should be called a IT or THEM.

How do they handle gender in Latin languages where they have gender on all nouns? What about German? They have three genders!

I’m wondering that myself!

The whole thing is so stupid. Someone who feels transgender wants the opposite gender’s most stereotypical looks and accessories. But it’s toxic if a regular gender wants to look like their gender’s stereotypical ways,

You can’t have it both ways.

I will only use three pronouns for those of you like Lowery and Penny:

He, she and it.

Any questions?

When will the Supreme Court rule against Newspeak? In California, it’s illegal to call a transgender his genetic pronoun. I think it’s only for people who work in nursing homes, and I’d think an employer can have rules about that.

They reminds me of multiple personalities, who undergo horrendous child abuse. Maybe “they’re” making a statement.

Yeah, I learned French, so, to me, gender is related to language.

I assume so. Multiple personalities develop in response to horrific child abuse.

I.E. “HE got HIS jacket from the closet.”
Becomes: “THEY got THEIR jacket from the closet.”

I was going to write about the ‘their’ thing, too,
of which I confess to being guilty. But now that I’m trying to, I can’t come up with a good example of it. Yours doesn’t work because it’s only one person and, as you say, inaccurate.

But if you said, “Somebody got their jacket from the closet,” the subject is unspecified and ‘their’ reflects that. I won’t use the silly pronouns they push on us, but singular ‘they’ seems unavoidable, until you get stuff like this...

“This is my friend, Jay. I met them at work.”

Same. If in a mixed crowd and somehow a trans person is being discussed and I don’t want to press the issue, I make sure to construct my sentences in a way that doesn’t require pronouns, but I refuse to join the insanity.

Brian Regan, talking about an honest mistake in a time before this madness:

Have you ever guessed someone's gender wrong? There's no recovering from that. You just gotta move on, 'cause you ain't wigglin' out of anything.

"Hey, uh, excuse me, sir?"

"Ma'am!"

"Okay. ‘k bye! Bye, human. Bye, person. Nice to meet you, individual!"

Oh, good. I can always count on you, Salamander. :-)

Hey BTW I hadn’t been to your profile page in a while so just stopped by, and nearly all the graphic images are not loading. I’m on a tablet at the moment so I don’t have decent diagnostic tools to see why, but maybe your image hosting provider is down?

Hope all is well with you and your critters.

” Their women exchanged the normal practices of sexual intercourse for something which is abnormal and unnatural.

Similarly the men, turning from natural intercourse with women, were swept into lustful passions for one another. Men with men performed these shameful horrors, receiving, of course, in their own personalities the consequences of sexual perversity.”

Got tired of fighting the image host to accept my payments and actually keep them up running.

Been really down the last two years and just haven’t felt like bothering with it.

Valpal - I didn’t let my son use the men’s restroom either/ especially at the University pool near us. There was some bit of stink, but not enough to stop me.
