President Trump announced that Republicans would not present a health care overhaul proposal until after the 2020 election, punting on coming up with a replacement for the Affordable Care Act, which the administration is currently fighting in court to invalidate. The issue now will dominate presidential campaigns in the months leading up to the 2020 election.
Mr. Trump announced his new timetable in a thread of Twitter posts late Monday, putting off one of his biggest campaign promises until, the president hopes, he is re-elected.
Everybody agrees that ObamaCare doesnt work, began Mr. Trump, who went on to add that Republicans were developing a really great HealthCare Plan with far lower premiums (cost) & deductibles than ObamaCare.
He said a vote on it would be taken after the election, when Republicans hold the Senate & win back the House.
It was not immediately clear on Tuesday what the Trump administration would do if courts ruled in favor of abolishing the health care system established by President Barack Obama. Last week, the Trump administration broadened its war on the health care law by arguing that the entire Affordable Care Act should be invalidated. If the law were abandoned, at least 20 million people could lose their health insurance. A court battle could stretch past the 2020 election.
Mr. Trump described a future Republican proposal as far less expensive & much more usable than ObamaCare.
Last week, Mr. Trump declared that Republicans would become the party of health care, a promise Democrats immediately embraced. On Monday, Mr. Trump maintained that position, but said Republicans would pass a new law once they won back both chambers of Congress in the 2020 election, victories that are not foregone conclusions.

Most of the people in this country who DON’T think healthcare is a right, have posted on this thread.
There is no more chance of getting the government out of healthcare than there is of replacing our current military with a voluntary, self-financing militia such as we had in 1776.
The Republicans had two years to address issues like this.
They were so sure Trump was a goner, they couldn’t pull their heads out long enough to get anything done.
Never make a threat to children unless you intend to carry it out. Considering the congress(both parties), Mexico and the central American countries all behave like petulant children, the threat has to be carried out.
Close the border and let no one in. Increase the transfer taxes on funds going out of the US into any Mexican/Central/South American financial institutions to pay for the cost of this mess they helped create on our southern border. Take the US Chamber of Commerce to task and their Republican lackeys as well.
I would also consider approaching the Texas governor about him asking the President to invoke Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution and deploy the US military and take aggressive action against Mexico. Pour US troops into Northern Mexico and stop the invasion. Arrest any central American they find trying to cross the border, place them on ships and haul their asses back where they came from in wholesale lots. The Mexicans will be pissed but at this point to hell with them, they are helping create this mess.
Of course it will. What happens if the courts strike down Obamacare before then?
How many times did the Republicans in the House vote to repeal Obamacare between 2009 and 2017?
Capitalism works best. We do not need another gov’t plan.
It seems like a lot of people's memory of the healthcare issue doesn't go back any further than the introduction of Obamacare. But healthcare costs have been a issue for Americans going back to the 1990s. Remember Hillarycare? That didn't just appear in a vacuum. And there's a reason healthcare was a major campaign issue in 2008.
I see no path to this "plan" stopping any time soon and the wagon behind YT just keeps getting fuller and fuller with more people with more needs.
My post mentioned another reason for the high costs, but I don’t disagree that it has long been an issue. I will say that Obamacare did nothing to help, and only exacerbated the problems by shifting costs even more to those who pay in favor of those who don’t.
Never Trumpers are the scourge of Free Republic
They’re like bold city roaches who have no shame scurrying out any time of day!
Unfortunately, I would have to agree with you. The dems own the field on this one over the do-nothing, pusillanimous, pubbies.
