Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto on Thursday said he is looking forward to a promised legal battle over the city’s proposed gun ban and plans to immediately sign the regulations into law once City Council approves them.
Addressing the legislation for the first time in weeks, the mayor repeated a promise that the legal defense would cost taxpayers nothing. He said he has received commitments from a “team of attorneys both locally and nationally” to help the city fend off lawsuits and criminal complaints that Second Amendment advocates have vowed to file following passage of the bills.
“Once council makes that final decision, I anticipate signing those documents within one week,” Peduto said. “I realize that there will be those that will challenge this legally. We have been provided pro bono legal assistance. There will be no cost to taxpayers for that challenge, and we look forward to it.”
Council during a preliminary vote on Wednesday approved the legislation that would ban the use of military-style weapons, including assault rifles like the one used in October to kill 11 worshipers at Squirrel Hill’s Tree of Life synagogue. It would also ban certain firearms ammunition and accessories and permit courts to seize guns held by those deemed a public safety threat.
Three council members — Anthony Coghill, Darlene Harris and Theresa Kail-Smith — voted no on the bills. Among other things, they cited the cost of litigation.
So he is basically using city government as a spear tip to advance the agenda of gun-grabbing Leftist groups.
Peduto has also claimed that the 2A is superseded by a "constitutional right to tranquility". Well Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō to YOU.

Besides being against the 2nd Amendment, isn’t it also against state law?
Because there is so much tranquility in places like New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, Jamaica, and other places that banned guns. I wonder if he ought to try selling ocean front real estate properties located in Alberta or Nebraska?

The play here is obvious. Soros funded liberal activists and took over the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 2015. Even though there is clear precedent on this issue (Clarke v. House of Representatives, 957 A.2d 361 2008, Ortiz v. Commonwealth, 545 Pa. 279, 681 A.2d 152 (1996); and Schneck v. City of Philadelphia, 34 Pa. Commw. 96, 383 A.2d 227 (Pa. Cmwlth. 1978)).
Soros has instructed his puppets on the Pennsylvania Supreme court to disregard said precedent and find a “Constitutional right” to “home rule” for Pittsburgh and Filthadelphia. The Pittsburgh Mayor is also a Soros puppet, so there is coordination on this. Even though such a “right” has never been recognized anywhere else, and even though such a “right” would be ludicrous on its face and fly in the face of existing law and precedent, that’s what they are shooting for here.
That’s the plan and endgame. The current Pennsylvania Supreme Court is activist and its Justices are mere puppets on the Soros string.
This is what happens when you elect an activist as mayor instead of a leader.

I would bet my bottom dollar that right now there are people in the Allegheny Sheriffs office filling out concealed carry permit applications as I type. Last time I was there the place was filled. Last time my son was there the place was filled.
We will not abide by their fantasy. I will continue to carry everywhere minus the places that are strictly forbidden (courts, fed premises, etc.).
Did you know PA does not recognize signage? You can go into any establishment and the worst they can do is ask you to leave. Fail to leave it’s a minor trespassing call to the po-po who of course will make you leave. However, just be a good concealed carry person and no one will know anyway; at least not until a bad guy shows up.

I’m pretty sure that a similar case was tried under McDonald vs. Chicago, and the Supreme Court ruled for the plaintiff.
Show me where the Constitution guarantees the right to tranquility. You won't find it because promising tranquility is an impossible promise to keep. These radical F'n Democrats need to be driven from this country.
