A student who worked with L. Douglas Wilder at the Virginia Commonwealth University school named for the former governor reported to the university and police that Wilder sexually harassed her by kissing her without consent.
The woman, Sydney Black, 22, said Wilder, 88, also suggested she could live at his house and offered to take her on foreign trips and pay for her law school in 2017, while she still worked as an office assistant at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.

We should know by now that the same rules don’t apply to democrats. If they did, all the buildings and public schools named after him would be changed.
Governor Wilder is the esteemed Virginia governor who brought Virginia into the modern world by introducing the lottery which passed in a voter referendum during an election cycle.
I don’t agree or disagree with a lottery however, Wilder and his administration almost blatantly lied about what the money was going to be used for.
Throughout the campaign leading up to the vote the misdirection applied was that the money was going to be used for Library expansions, Public School enhancements... and things of that nature, but several years into the lottery it was found out that the monies were being used for meeting operational expenses within the state.
When queried about the use of this money other than what they had supposedly said, the answer was that they didn’t say they “would” use it for those library and public school enhancements what they determine they said was that they “could” use those monies for public libraries and public school enhancements.
So, whether or not they mislead Virginia voters is one thing, and they might well have but they really needed to come out during the run-up to the election cycle and spell out definitively what the lottery money would have or could be used for rather than innuendo.
It could have been a very close vote because there was a lot of dissension concerning a public Lottery that was state run.
Virginia has a series of scandals, though it seems the prevous three Dems are given a pass.

This was a young woman, not a preteen schoolgirl. This young woman chose to visit this man in his private chambers and accept his very obvious flirtations. Now, she’s showing us her ‘Shocked Face’ when the outcome is not what she expected.
My late mom raised all her daughters to know better than put yourself in that situation, or staying there once you figured out his game plan. She smells money, mucho money.
The school has to re-name any building carrying his name.
All pictures of him on campus must be removed immediately.
He has been charged with assault with a dead weapon.

I’ve seen it happen lots of time, I’m willing to bet that she flirted, did things to call attention to herself physically, and got caught up in a whirlwind of a world with lots of possibilities and opportunities. These girls may be young, but they are NOT that innocent, and they are just as aware what they are doing with an octogenarian as the old man knows damned well that he should know better. But neither one stands down and stay in their place. But once things unravel, or ways are parted, her bragging starts to get shamed by friends and family who ask how she could ever have been in such a situation... when suddenly her story isn’t about how willingly she was enticing but instead to a sad story of victim-hood.
It’s not time, this day and age, to be a horny old man in a position of power. No matter what the circumstances, you simply CAN NOT give in do such desires. Whether it is fair or unfair, it’s the job of the male to be the better one.

If you are someone like Wilder, with a long reputation for
‘messing around’, the best thing is to not do it at work or with people you encounter at work. That’s easy for me to say, because, for some people, their work is also the way they socialize and meet people. For many it is the only way, unless they go to church, have hobbies or other duties.
I think the military calls it ‘Fraternizing’.
Used to be that you could lose rank for that.
This reminds me of the tragic story of the 88 year old man and the 22 year old hottie he married. He died shortly after the marriage and she, eyes stained by tears, told what happened: “We had a wonderful marriage and made love to the tune of the church bell every Sunday until that horrible day when the damn fire engine went by with its bell ringing.”
The kid experienced the real Wilder Effect.

It is one of the reasons I am fully against a military with large numbers of females deployed with large numbers of men, particularly to a combat area.
The sexual urge in people is so powerful that people ruin their honor, their finances, their families, their marriage, their country, and their lives.
Sure, people should KNOW better. And we aren’t animals, so being able to control ourselves is one of the things that differentiates us from animals.
But leftists want you to think men and women can shower in the same bathroom and pretend that there is not difference between the sexes.
And to do it in remote military areas where there is risk, loneliness, and everyone is in that 18-25 age range...it is insanity.
Senior enlisteds and officers playing around with younger ones of the opposite sex (or now, same sex) what could go wrong?
